Since you have mentioned - "I have tried this using the 4-3-2-1, and the 4-3-2-1(2) formations."
You might be using 4-2-3-1 and 4-2-3-1(2) formations.
The objective requires the 4-3-2-1, and there are no other variations of that formation. Please double-check.
I double checked a few times and I thought I had the right formation but didn't.
