My Roast of FC 26’s TOTY Event
Let’s cut to the chase—it’s a total dumpster fire.
1. First up, the legendary pull rates. I’ve blown through every single SBC pack and store pack out there, grinded my PS and PC accounts like a madman, and let me tell you—I’ve been playing this franchise for ages, and never have I failed to pull a single TOTY card. Not even a sad little TOTY Honorable Mention to rub salt in the wound this time! That’s next-level absurd. As a die-hard long-time player, this kind of drop rate is just unbearable. I shell out for FIFA Points to actually participate in the event, but what do I get? Nada. Zilch. Zero sense of engagement. Is this EA’s genius plan to make us stop spending money? If so, congrats—you’ve nailed it! Real masterclass in “customer retention” right there.
2. The SBCs are so poorly designed, it’s actually impressive. Just check out the dislike rates on FUTBIN—they’re off the charts. Either they’re way too overpriced to be worth the hassle (looking at you, Toti—you couldn’t hold a candle to FC 25’s Bale in terms of value). Take Gabi, for example—he was way more TOTY-worthy than Saliba this year. Fine, you snubbed him—at least throw us a bone with a decent TOTY HM SBC, right? But nope—you guys served up a useless Playstyle+ SBC that’s about as appealing as watching paint dry. And don’t even get me started on De Ligt. EA knows exactly what skills center-backs need—but you just refuse to give them to us. Pure, unadulterated trolling, that’s what it is.
3. We’re neck-deep in TOTY season, and you still won’t lift the restriction on the second Playstyle+ slot? The Evolutions are so underwhelming, I’d rather watch grass grow. I get it—you wanna shill the Battle Pass by locking the second Playstyle+ behind it. But come on—this is your annual flagship TOTY event! Shouldn’t it feel like a big deal? It’s nowhere near as good as FC 25’s banger of a TOTY Defender Evolution. This year’s version is flatter than a week-old soda.
All in all, this TOTY event has left me utterly gutted. It feels like EA didn’t even bother to try—the drop rates are a joke, players get zero sense of fun or engagement, and the devs clearly dropped the ball big time with player selection and event design. Do yourselves a favor—listen to your fans for once. Don’t run the TOTY name into the ground.
