The Community is also dead
I haven't played this past week (only the Gauntlet), but based on the games I did play, I could see that people are finding an exploit (specifically, the defensive AI issue) and choosing to benefit from it rather than playing the game properly.
I believe EA's decisions put the game in this state, but the community should still strive to play for joy. I've spent a lot of money because I truly enjoy playing; I've been a fan since I played FIFA 07 as a kid, and now I enjoy competitive gaming, but I no longer want to play.
EA needs to find a balance between manual defending and zero defending, between effective dribbling and dribbling that makes defending impossible. PlayStyles help the player (though I think they shouldn't exist), but STATS must also mean something.
And, most importantly, we (the community) need to keep trying to play the game for joy, even when we want to win. It is such a good feeling when you lose a game to a person who played well, and you tried your best to win—you understand you need to improve, so you go and keep getting better. Now, it looks like a Battle Royale; the one who uses more bugs or overpowered skills wins.
The ultimate cancer of this game right now is: never switching defenders because the AI handles everything; short corners to exploit stupid positioning; and spinners who keep possession with the same player until an opening appears.
Guys! Passes, through balls, runs with wingers, Player Lock, L1/LB runs... Can't you do anything by yourselves? Nothing creative?
I'm dropping the game today. Let's see what new updates they roll out.
