FC 27 Ping PS5 / Telmex Mexico / Routing Issue?
Hi everyone,
I’m wondering if anyone else in Mexico, especially Telmex/Infinitum (Telnor) users, has experienced the same issue since the end of Early Access.
I’m located in Mexicali, Baja California, Mexico, playing FC 27 on PS5 via Ethernet with Telmex/Infinitum fiber.
During Early Access, my connection was excellent. On September 20, my EA Connection Quality Report consistently showed:
11.11 ms / 11.37 ms / 11.82 ms / 12.39 ms
Starting around September 23, without changing my PS5, ISP, router, Ethernet connection or network settings, my ping suddenly increased and has remained almost exactly:
55.39 ms / 55.43 ms / 55.13 ms / 55.00 ms
The connection itself is still very stable. My jitter is around 1.3 ms, packet loss is practically 0%, NAT is Type 2, and my connection is approximately 276 Mbps download / 344 Mbps upload.
I also ran traceroutes from a PC on the same Telmex connection. Traffic toward EA infrastructure is currently being routed through Telnor/Uninet → El Paso, Texas (Level3/Lumen). Other routes also showed traffic going through El Paso and Phoenix.
This makes me wonder whether something changed in the routing or Game Data Center selection after Early Access.
Geographically, Los Angeles is much closer to Mexicali than many other FC data center locations. EA lists Los Angeles as an FC Game Data Center location. With the same connection, I was getting ~11 ms only a few days earlier, so a low-latency route was clearly available.
I understand that the traceroute does not prove my actual FC match server is located in Texas, but it does show that my current Telmex routing toward EA infrastructure is going through El Paso.
I have already restarted my PS5 and modem and tested multiple matches. Every FC 27 match is now consistently around 55 ms.
Is anyone else experiencing this? Particularly players in Baja California / northwestern Mexico using Telmex or Telnor who had ~10–15 ms during Early Access and are now getting ~50–60 ms?
I would really appreciate it if EA could investigate whether there has been a change in routing or Game Data Center assignment for northwestern Mexico/Telmex connections since Early Access.
I can provide screenshots from EA’s own Connection Quality Report showing the change from ~11 ms to ~55 ms.
