Why do players with lower stats are more powerful in head to head

Recently I have seen, that players with comparable stats or worse, seem to be more fast than agile as against my players. Sprint at 140 doesn't matter that bloke in front will simply catchup with you. It feels like fifa has a dice that it rolls to aid players to win match and for some like me to keep on lose every second match, because of bat**bleep** controls and weird game dynamics.
