Does OVR really matter in this game?

My OVR 116 Cech trained to level 23 can’t save a single shot from outside the box (even when it’s not an open chance), while my opponents’ random goalkeepers can stop everything.

In the last match, my opponent's GK was only OVR 109, yet he saved all 5 of my shots on target???? And this isn’t just one match — my GK can hardly save anything, while the opponent’s seems to predict the future, even stopping around 50% of one-on-ones.

So is this some kind of F2P punishment or what? Can anyone explain?

  • Since I purchase the star pass each month, I could be considered p2p, but the same thing happens to me also. Keepers below my ovr frequently stone my players with ungodly stops. But, what can you do?

  • 9vfb5pdj5ihr OVR is important but not the only factor; goalkeeper performance also depends on hidden attributes (reflexes, positioning, reactions), chemistry, and in-match momentum, so sometimes a lower OVR GK may outperform a higher one by design to keep matches balanced, i have de gea ovr 107 sometimes he can save every shot on target .

What you call “balanced” is, through others’ eyes, just plain manipulation. I’m F2P and I’ve spent countless hours building a halfway decent team, so it feels like a slap in the face when EA handicaps my team and I find it nearly impossible to beat a far inferior side. That’s not to say that a 116 Cech should save everything or that there shouldn’t be some randomness built into the game to better simulate real-life, but, as others have attested, EA aren’t getting the balance right at the moment.

Yes it's outrageous and not just in case of GKs but also that sometimes the opponents look so overpowered even if they are 2-3 OVRs lesser. The opponent players seem to be everywhere around the field, their defenders can probably block everything, their midfielders can pass the ball straight to mars and still find out a player there and their wingers can easily cross a ball and their player would obviously jump higher than mine everytime and head into the goal. This is very common with me. My players start running belter skelter without a reason, my defenders don't jump as high as the opponent and as such this makes it irritating. I mostly concede from opponent's crosses only as the defender fails to clear it.

Agreed. In well-balanced video games you never feel like “the fix” is in, but it happens all too often in FC Mobile and it’s bitterly frustrating. It’s not helped by the consistent lag from a matchmaking algorithm that allows for play between users who are too distant from each other to permit a competitive match (one usually sits much closer to the host server and is therefore almost invincible), but a big part of the maddeningly inconsistent gameplay clearly stems from the (poor) coding. Alas, when it’s decided it’s not going to be your day, you just aren’t going to be able to win no matter who the opponent is.
