Inconsistent Gameplay in both H2H and VSA

The gameplay is inconsistent in both H2H and VSA. (Only talking about FC Champion Rank)

In H2H you will find three types of gameplay. First, you may get legendary level gameplay, where your players sit idle while opponents 11 players play too fast for you at a time. You just sit and watch them to make goals. Second, You may get world class level gameplay, where you and your opponents both play with the single player and other players somewhat synchronised and this is the fair gameplay mode in my view. Third, You will find semi-professional gameplay, where your 11 player plays together and opponents sit idle and watch you make goals. Most of the times they left after 2-3 goals withing 20-30 min of the game. And you need to play with auto mode rest of the time.

In VSA also against some opponent opponent defenders and gk seems inhuman even goal bar plays as a goal keeper, greatest chances given too far away that consumes more time. If it is the most cases I would think I can't play but that not the case as Against most opponents I find it easy to score 11-13 goals per match.

I am too much confused about the manager mode. Your cm with more than 200 in pass gives wrong pass! So there is nothing to discuss.

  • Yeah, I see similar patterns with H2H. There are just matches you can’t win (even against weaker OVR teams) because the controls feel sluggish (for the player you are controlling) and all of the other players (the ones you aren’t controlling) are behaving like idiots. It’s maddening because one match it feels good and you’re having a competitive and fun experience and the very next match your team is all over the place. The absolute worst is when you point the joystick in one direction but the AI is dragging your player in the OPPOSITE direction.

    In VSA the network connection warnings have been the bane of every match I’ve played since the update. And, even though I’ve managed to climb the ranks to FC Champion +50, the gameplay has only gotten more and more glitchy as I’ve advanced. The number of bad touches my players take is like nothing I’ve ever seen and it’s all complicated by the game lagging and then suddenly lurching forward. It’s never more than a fraction of a second but it’s more than enough to throw you off and cause you to lose possession. The fact that I’ve managed to continue to win most of my matches I think is down less to my team being better or me being a better player than the fact that my approach to most of the attack scenarios is less skill based and, therefore, less risky under these glitchy circumstances than most of my opponents. Put simply, I tend to make one roulette move (or one simple pass) and shoot and this no-nonsense approach makes me a little less susceptible to the glitchiness.

    And don’t even get me started on Manager Mode. I have a 116 OVR squad and can’t get beyond FC Champion (+1 win). I’ve tried every imaginable variation of tactics and I see no visible change in the way my team plays or the end result (I typically win no more than 2 out of every 10 matches). So, there’s no real point in “managing” my squad and the simulated match is painful to watch anyway. It’s actually a window into everything that is wrong with FCM because it allows you to see just how poor/nonsensical the underlying player logic is. You see sequence after sequence that looks nothing like a real football match and you’re powerless to do anything about it. So, I just set it running while I’m doing chores or watching TV and keep spamming games until I’ve collected my daily points maximum, and if I haven’t won at least one then I play a few more until I do just to get a decent weekly rank and the rewards that go with it. Sad to say, but this game mode is pointless and lay bears the most fundamental flaws inherent in the app (flaws that EA seems allergic to fixing).

    Since I was discussing only about gameplay, I didn't write anything about the bug of VSA. If you see the connection and opponent status you will be distracted for sure as it is always giving wrong information.

    This is why I said there is nothing to discuss in Manager Mode. My team is 118 ovr and I only managed 20 stars so far!

  • Inconsistent gameplay and scripted gameplay or patterns that repeat during matches. Score the first goal and not be able to get out of my own half for the rest of the game, with every ball being intercepted in my own half ( I tried to clear the ball from the box 5 consecutive times with the ball being intercepted, the fifth time I sent a long ball that hit one of the player in the head. It's ridiculous). 

    It feels like there is a script that the game follows, I get to score the first goal and not being let to score the second untill 90th minute.

    It feels like a scripted gameplay when the opponents score the first goal and by the end of the match I manage to score two.

    It feels like scripted game when defenders run in all directions to leave gaps into the defence. 

    If I  jockey with the CDM in front of the player that has the ball I get a second defender coming to press. What's the reason behind that? It should do that if I have attacking mode selected.

    The side defenders only job in the game is to get in the middle to cover the CDM? I play with two cdms. I don't need them to come in the middle. Not to mention them going in attack, running in the front of the wingers. 

    I had defenders staying to deep to allow strikes to score from outside of the box.

    If I use manual defending that magnet effect take defenders out of position.

    All this are done so that the AI can control the outcome of the game.

    Is stupid to loose at the same number of stars and not be able to pass a certain number of stars. It's impossible to win a game and loose the second for 20 games in a row. 

    It has nothing to do with connection. It's the gameplay. Passing was not improved, player movement is stupid, defending its mostly done by the AI.

    I will probably get a ban for this but I don't care anymore.


  • Keep adding your feedback to their designated threads if you find new anomalies. Our only real weapon is comprehensive feedback. Yes, I may sound like a broken record, but the reality is that aside from being constructive pinpointing what does not work (without ranting and venting) and doing the bare minimum in the game, you have two other options: put up with it and keep playing a lot where our sanity will be questioned, or quit. Their Discord server also has a feedback thread that apparently gets passed on to EA. Drop the emotion, point out the obvious in a constructive manner, and do the same if they bring out any surveys.

    EA should really provide some responses and what they are doing about the two elephants in the room but not holding my breath on it.

    There are two aspects to this IMO. While AI handles a lot of control on our behalf and the general gameplay is completely broken, the latency issues only make things worse severely compouniding the problem that didnt exist to the current extent a month ago. Some moves register too late, costing you dearly. In H2H, this was always an issue when you were matched against distant players, but now it happens even when playing against people in your own region.

    VSA is supposed to be a score comparison mode where only the latency to the server matters, and that’s always the one closest to you. Now it lags out half the time, which means your finesse shot is slightly delayed and gets intercepted by the defender. There’s a direct link between these issues since the anniversary update.

    I know you had a different opinion about the network and hardware side of things, but the latency broken netcode are now affecting all parts of the game.  Even the ones that technically shouldn’t be impacted by it, like VSA and LVL. My S25+ is still a beast for any game out there, but it does stuggle with FCM since the Anniversary dropped.

    You said you played beta extensively, repost your findings and differences into discord server feedback thread then and do a revisit of your post on the 3 feedback/issues threads i listed in other response, it may or may not help but got nothing to lose.

  • Can't be bothered. It's useless anyway. They only try to manipulate the gameplay and their only interest is to mask those intentions by letting the AI control most aspects of the gameplay.  If someone can explain the reasons of how they imagined these gameplay and the reasons behind I will admit I am wrong. 

    Like I said above:

    1. Why are side defenders charge towards the wingers or in the middle trying to cover the cdms if I already play with two cdms? Why do no matter if you have attacking/defending mode the fullbacks run in front of the wingers. Why if I have Def mid  that is containing the player with the ball the fullbacks come in support as a second defender? Because they need to create gaps in defence to be exploited.
    2. Why we have the magnetic effect that pulls players towards the ball even if I play with manual defending?
    3. Why teams automatically choose to stay high or lower on the pitch depending on the score? Why can't I continue to attack if I have 2-0… Why teams choose to move to a more defensive style in order to protect the goal and allow higher possession for the opponents? 
    4. Why when scored, opponents teams get overpowered attacks making it impossible to get out of own half or connect two consecutive passes?
    5. Why every thing comes to normal if the manage to score?
    6. Why after scoring a goal or two the game doesn't all us to score more goals until the last minute. Is like not letting the opponent to be humiliated. Why sometimes at 2-0 they are allowed to score one ?
    7. Why player OVR and Stats have little effect over the game? There are a lot of low over teams that outperform in the game. ( Please don't say because the players skills)
    8. Why overpassing is rewarded? I met player passing the ball just for the sake of it throughout the whole match while my team was sitting in it's own half.

    These things are intentional features of the game that don't make sense and creates a unbalance gameplay, leaving the impression of randomness. 

    The BETA version was never implemented because was giving players to create consistent gameplays and allowing us to exploit the empty spaces through passing.

    For weeks I am stuck at 48 stars. How can I win three or four game till I get to 48 and not be able to pass this number although I am facing players with two stars and unranked/untrain players? 

    I don't mind the casino style or the money they ask for the new release cards, I understand the business model. What I don't understand the manipulation behind the gameplay.

    I use to think that latency is beht the bad gameplay but most of the time I play with around 25 ms or less and allthow you may be right with network delaying your moves and responses I am not so sure this is the reason. I think the reason is bad coding from which we get all the errors, bad development, from which we have the general gameplay that has nothing to do with football in general, the badly designed tactics/formations and players movements and on top of that EAs manipulation into making us buy more. It's like a soup with unbalance ingredients.

    In general I wouldn't have a problem with the game itself.  I understand that if tomorrow I develop my own football simulation will be my own vision of the game and that the quality of the game will be determined by the resources available and the technological barriers. What bothers me is the fact we don't play the same game and the interference of the engine/AI into deciding the outcome of the matches. It like someone throws the dice at the start of the game, or as if someone pulls out some random events that will boost or **bleep** your team. Its like someone decides when and who has a goal scoring chance during the game. Head to head matches feel like VS matches where you also do the defending part.
