The Urgency to Revamp or Remove VS Attack Mode in FC Mobile

Hello fellow Managers,

I'm starting this discussion because, like many of you, I've hit a wall of frustration with the current state of the VS Attack (VSA) mode in FC Mobile. While I appreciate the concept of a fast-paced, turn-based competitive mode, the current implementation is fundamentally flawed, especially for a ranked system that is crucial for team development.

I have achieved Champion rank in both Head-to-Head (H2H) and Manager Mode, so I believe my assessment of my own skill level is fair—this isn't simply a case of poor gameplay. The core issue lies entirely within the Chances System of VSA.

1. The Broken Chances System: Where is the Fairness?
The VSA mode could be genuinely engaging and fun IF the system for generating chances were truly equitable.

The Problem: The current system does not provide an equal competitive challenge. It’s called "VS Attack," yet both sides face vastly different difficulty levels based on the opponent's OVR and the quality of chances generated.

The Ask: Why should two players in a "versus" mode be presented with challenges that are so dramatically weighted? The entire system needs an overhaul to ensure that players are competing on a truly level playing field, where skill in execution matters more than the inherent quality of the chances received.

2. OVR Differences vs. Unfair Game Mechanics
I am fully prepared to face opponents with a higher Overall Rating (OVR) and stronger players. That is part of the grind in any competitive game. However, this acceptance comes with a crucial condition: The game mechanics must be consistent and fair for both players.

It is acceptable to lose because my opponent's defenders are faster, or their striker has a better shot power. It is not acceptable to lose because 70% of my "Great Chances" start with a defender right in front of me, while my opponent gets an open net 90% of the time. This is a game design failure, not a skill gap.

3. The Pay-to-Win Wall (P2W) and Rank Inaccessibility
I consider myself a hybrid player—someone who spends some money on the game while also grinding heavily. However, in VSA, the balance is heavily skewed:

90% of the time, the player who spends more money will win. The remaining 10% are simply those who get lucky with chances.

VSA is a RANKED MODE, and climbing the ranks is essential for collecting rewards needed to improve the team (Training, Rank-up items, etc.).

Players with a modest team, or even those who spend but have been unlucky with their pack pulls/market purchases, face a near-impossible climb. The lack of fair chances acts as a gatekeeper, preventing progression for non-whale players.

Conclusion: We Need Real Competition and Fun
When a core competitive mode consistently generates more frustration than enjoyment, the developers must take a serious look at its foundation. VSA, in its current state, only creates resentment every time the chances pop up and I see the massive disparity.

Acceptable: Losing due to my own lack of skill/execution.

Unacceptable: Losing due to a massive, systemic chance imbalance dictated by the game's flawed design.

I urge EA to reconsider the mechanism of VS Attack. We want a truly fair, competitive, and fun game that rewards skill and smart management, not just the size of one's wallet or random luck with the chances generator.

What are your thoughts on VSA? Have you experienced similar frustration? Let's discuss a path forward!

  • Simply don't play if u R loosing 2 much.. take a break.  There is life beyond the game mate ;) I don't play H2H mostly as can't seem to understand how the opponents with such low ovrs overrun my fully ranked up squad.  What u say is justified but makes zero business sense to EA.  They would want you to spend and upgrade, isn't it?

mendozzamagic I'm not at higher levels.. I'm up to 15 stars, on VSA.. And then, the next match, he gives me ovr 116, who scores 9 goals in 20 seconds and then disconnects from the match. And in minute 0, when the score is 10-9 and I should have won, the result is the one from when the hacker left the match. Like 4-9 (for the hacker). I reported him, but he's still playing well, thanks. They're level over 100..

Fine don’t call it “scripting,” but certain chances in VSA are most definitely rigged.  Just played a match that I would have won but for two chances where my players took inexplicably bizarre actions that had NOTHING to do with my inputs/actions. In both cases the chance I started from was clearly designed to foil me and after beating the initial defender the code made sure I failed — in the first instance my striker (Cruyff—one of the best strikers in the game) blasted OVER the goal (which almost never happens), and in the second instance (again with Cruyff) I made a roulette move where he only completed 180 degrees of the spin and spilled the ball to the defender (again, this almost NEVER happens).

You and EA can deny that they use scripting all you want, but all of us who play dozens and dozens of VSA scenarios a week can tell when “the fix is in.” Every time I win a few matches I’m immediately confronted with matches like the one I describe above in which the game mechanics suddenly get wonky and where (regardless of the OVR-rating of my opponent) my players suddenly start behaving like they’re on crack. I don’t care what you call it, but it’s absolutely infuriating and it’s the opposite of FUN (which is what the games is supposed to be about).

I agree 100% with the original post — I can accept being beaten by faster or more skilled players. But what I can’t accept is having ann arm (and, at times, a leg!) tied behind my back. Either make VSA a fair fight or just delete it altogether.

  • Just finished three more VSA matches and the mechanics were all over the place! My players were inexplicably sluggish in critical moments, took ridiculously clumsy touches in others. It used to be the most reliably consistent (if repetitive) part of the app, and now it’s a complete mess. Soooo frustrating to play now. 😔😡

@1440666fd7e443ec I'm getting VSA with ovr 121-122 since 15 stars.. Well, with these players I have no chance of winning. 🤣 Goalkeepers are spiderman, defenders even if they are weaker in stats, they easily have over 215 in defending in the game, even if their stats don't have more than 192 in defending. You can't do any dribbling, no roulette, nothing. Players (ST) are slower than players (CB). Even with ovr 119-120 it happens... Regardless of the player's attributes, the AI changes everything on the field in favor of the opponent.

  • . For every one of you that say that this game is not scripted then explain to me, how I got a 121 team, all my players above 120 with 3 being 122 and I just finished a game with a guy who had a 120 ovr with some players bellow 120. I got 1/3 of my bar yellow and he got ALL is bar green!! How Is this possible if not for the game to be scripted for some people?? Because this goes against game rules, if I have a bigger overall I should have gotten more opportunities.

The chances are based on entirely on OVR - show us a screen shot of the match in your history so we can understand what the OVR difference is.

Could be your opponent was using an illegal exploit (i.e., they were cheating).

It must be said that the original post in this thread remains as relevant now as it was two months ago when it was first posted. Most VSA matches do not feel fair or fun. The rate of random events (shots hitting posts, inexplicably poor passes, and horrendous first touches) continues to make many possessions feel “rigged.” Put another way, it doesn’t feel like most matches are decided by skill and that’s the fault of poor game mechanics — an issue the community has been begging EA to fix for as long as anyone can remember and instead they invest their time and energy in a draft system (the “slot machine” aspect of the game) that most everyone hates.

Any self-respecting football game ought to put the gameplay first. Alas, it’s equals parts sad and infuriating that EA so consistently neglects the improvements we all are clamoring for while wrecking aspects of the game (like the shard system) that most everybody likes. EA, if you are indeed “listening” (as you are so fond of claiming), then please pay some attention to the issues raised in this thread.
