Interested in buying Mass effect Legendary edition

Hello everyone. As the title says I'm interested in buying the Mass effect Legendary edition. I was contemplating getting it on Steam but heard it still requires the EA app to launch and wanted input from those that have used it. Is the app really that bad and is it better to buy the game on the EA app or through Steam? I did ask a similar question on Steam but one user that responded was quite biased against anyone spreading "misinformation" "drivel" or the like for giving ear to anyone complaining about the EA app. If this is available on Playstation 5 I might just get it that way. Anyway thanks for any and all help.

First, whether you buy it through Steam or direct on the EA App, it will be played via the EA App.  So no getting around that.

All I can give you on which is better is anecdotal.  I've been on this forum for years and it seems to me that there are substantially more problems playing with the Steam version (usually licensing issues, though this happens direct as well).  Again, that is anecdotal.  But really, any personal reply you get will be a single data point (essentially, an anecdote).

So my view: why buy it on Steam when all it does is add an extra layer to go wrong?  (unless it is cheaper, or you just love the interface/XP/whatever)

Last: if $ matter to you, wait for a sale, which happens often.  I got it with a one month Humble Bundle sub.  It was free on Prime Gaming for a while.  And I've seen it on sale for $5-6 at time.

I don't want to discourage you from playing.  It's my favorite series of all time and have countless hours in all versions.

  • no don't buy through steam. buy directly through store. I am having problems 3 years later trying to launch. steam won't renew my license and or give me a CD Key.

    Hey pitwfihj539u,

I'll let others share their experiences of playing through EA app and/or Steam, but to answer the PlayStation aspect, this is available through the PlayStation Store as well.

This was released for PS4, though you'll still be able to play on PS5 just fine!
