I have tried multiple repairs/re installations and I still cannot get it to work :(

If you use the same EA account that the Steam copy was registered to, deleting multiplayer progress will not work this way.
If that is the case the easiest way to fix this might be going back to your Steam installation.
If you used a new EA account there is probably a entitlement issue in your account, only EA support can solve that.
