ME1 not launching

so not too long ago, I got ME:LE on steam. I downloaded it just fine, installed and logged into the EA app just fine, and the launcher itself boots up no problem. My issue is that when I go to click on ME1, it will just load up a bank black window and a splash screen that covers everything on my screen unless I just close that window.

Task manager shows literally everything is running except for the masseffect.exe program, which it shows it's not responding. I can't even go to close this blank window unless I force stop it through task manager.

I've tried setting a few things to be run as administrator, per the instructions of another user who was having this issue 2 years ago. Nothing is working. I am at my wits end here, I need help. I should be able to play a game that I bought, feels like a major waste of money just sitting there.

The CPUs in the minimum system acquirements are all 4 core CPUs, but it needs special knowledge to know that, so yeah, there should be a disclaimer.

Aw man! Thanks for letting me know. I wish I would have known BEFORE I bought legendary edition. At least it was on sale. Steam and EA should have a disclaimer or something. I remember looking up the specs required to run the games and I don't remember ever seeing anything about my CPU needing 4 cores

We need info about your system to find the cause of such crashes, see my pervious post and attach a DxDiag to your next post.

  • having same problem, mods were not the problem. I had thought after installing them again after my pc reset that it would help but it did not. seems to just crash at the splash screen no matter which mass effect game tho

Please add a DxDiag to your next reply.

A DxDiag is an overview of your PCs technical features and recent software errors.
There is no personal info in it except for the “Machine name” in the second row.
(You might delete the “Machine name” line if you wish too.)

    How to create a DxDiag:

    1. Press the Windows key and "R" at the same time to open the Run dialog box.
    2. Copy and paste or type "DxDiag" (Without the quotes) into the new field. > ENTER
    3. Wait until the green bar is gone > Click on "Save all information"
    4. Save the file to your desktop.
    5. Here at EA Forum > Click Replay > Click the paper clip icon at the bottom of the replay Window.
    6. Navigate to the "DxDiag.txt" on your desktop > select the "DxDiag.txt" > click on "Open".
    7. Reply.
