MELE(Steam) Failing to start due to Link2EA issues

As the title says, when I (and many, many other users) try and start Mass Effect: Legendary Edition from either the EA App or on Steam, the Link2EA app function will start, then just fail, without actually starting the game. I'd gotten lucky the past couple days, the Link2EA function actually did work, popping up the little dialogue box asking if I want the game to start, or whatever. But when I'd first gotten it, and currently now, when I attempt to start the game, the function will pop up a blank Link2EA window, then simply close, without starting the game. I've tried dozens and dozens of fixes, restarted Steam, the EA App, my PC, reinstalled the App and Steam several times, verified game integrity, made sure to try and repair the EA App, and I've gotten no luck in getting this App and Game to work consistently. From what I can tell, a lot of users have very similar issues, but they're never consistently fixed by the same solutions, some users do see luck in other solutions, and some like myself just do not. I hope to hear back from anyone soon, as most threads about this topic went dry months ago, and I can't find any up-to-date fixes or support.

I had attempted to contact EA's support properly about this. I'd been directed to clear my cache, restart my PC, and see if it would work then. Clearing my cache and restarting did not fix my issue, and when I'd gotten back in contact about the case, I was just told it'd be submitted as a proper bug report, with no other ways in the short-term to actually fix the issue.

It's all so tiresome-

Thanks in advance, anyone who replies.

    @TyrTheSynth

Hey, wanted to follow up and see if you were still running into an issue with the game. Let us know if you still need assistance with this one.

    Cheers!

Thanks for the response, unfortunately, I'm still having this exact issue. Link2EA doesn't seem to be letting the game launch properly, and I've still found no way to fix the issue.  I'm very open to trying more, just let me know what I've got to do.

    Thanks!

@TyrTheSynth Gotcha. So the issue here is because it's a PC version, each PC is different which is why different options work for different players. Can you please try to launch the game again and send me a screenshot of the messages that pop up and then close out?

Also, can you have the task manager open when you try to launch the game and see if the game shows up there and then disappears?

You stated you tried quite a few steps so I'm not going to send you a list of things that didn't work so we need to first figure out what you haven't tried yet.

I've gone about trying to start up the game, and the issue does persist. The real difficulty is that there isn't even any messages sent, it just opens up a blank window that would be the Link2EA window asking if I wanted to actually start the game, and then it closes a few seconds later. Having looked through the Task Manager, whenever I try to open the game, Mass Effect does not appear to be in the active Apps or the Background Processes, though the extra EA app, likely Link2EA, does open, closing soon after.

Below I will link two images, the first of the Link2EA window appearing blank, the second of the EA Launcher showing the game trying to start, and Steam picking up that I'm trying to launch the game, in the back ground.

If you need more images and info, I'm glad to provide them. Thanks for your responses so far.

@TyrTheSynth Gotcha, okay so below is where I would start. Im sure some you have done but maybe some you have not. You said you tried a lot so we have

EA App's Cache (Top Left Menu > Help > App Recovery)

    Nvidia

    Delete Windows Temp Files

    • First, make sure you close as many programs as you can
    • Press the Windows key + R, go into the file explorer
    • Type in %temp%, and hit Enter
    • Delete everything it allows you to delete
    • Reboot the PC

    Optional Registry clean-up

    • install CCleaner (it's free) from here
    • Run Registry cleaner
    • Click review selected issues
    • Do you want to back up? No
    • Click Fix all selected issues

    DNS Flush

    1. Click the Start button. It’s the Windows logo in the bottom left corner.
    2. Select Command Prompt.
    3. To open the command prompt console, you could also simply press the Windows and R keys at the same time and enter cmd.
    4. You may see a popup asking if you want to allow Command Prompt to make changes to your computer. If you do, select Yes.
    5. If you are asked for an administrative login at this point, then you’ll need to contact your system administrator to proceed.
    6. In the command prompt window, type ipconfig /flushdns.
    7. Press Enter.
    8. You should see a message confirming that the DNS Resolver Cache was successfully flushed.
  • @EA_Shepard

Thanks for these recommended processes. Off the top of my head, I know I've cleared the app cache multiple times, and I'm pretty sure I'd tried deleting the Windows Temp Files, but I'll try them again, and document their success here.

    • Clearing App Cache - Same result, game will not start
    • Deleting Windows Temp Files - Same result, game will not start
    • CCleaner Registry Cleanup - Same result, game will not start
    • DNS Flush - Same result, game will not start
    • NVIDIA Phyx Legacy - Same result, game will not start

I'm still rather sure it's not an issue overtly with the game that causes it to not start. As I'd said in the original post, I did have the game working for some time. The only major difference between the times when it worked, and now, is how the Link2EA App function works, with it simply just not working, and thus not allowing me to start my game. I of course, don't know for sure, I'm just theorizing as to what might be happening, but regardless, thanks for the continued support, I hope to hear more later!
