Please fix EASHL WOC

W.O.C. is a bit of a mess, isn’t it? First off, it’s super tough for a team of two players, especially one of them being a goalie, to find a game against another team with a real goaltender. It feels like we’re searching for ages—almost 7 to 8 times—before we even have a glimmer of hope of finding a game. We really need options like “match my room size” and “match my goaltender.” like in NHL 23, the search was way easier. Second, the gameplay is a bit wonky when playing against other people in the game mode of W.O.C. the AI defense just doesn’t block or even try to stay back to block anything. All the players do is speed, pass defense, get a breakaway, and score the easiest goal ever! I’ve seen players breeze past my own defense and do the simplest move, stick left, then right, and score a goal where the AI goalie is flat on his stomach—it’s just ridiculous! WOC has become a toxic environment, undermining its potential as a game mode. The primary issue lies with players who disregard the intended gameplay mechanics, resulting in an unplayable experience. EA’s decision to enable unrealistic character speed and ineffective AI goaltenders & Defenseman further exacerbates the problem. Fix your game!

  • WOC was intended to be 6v6. Go play HUT or versus if you want to play with AI. Otherwise find a group and enjoy 10 second queues and actual fun gameplay. Game is a better version than what it's been in a while minus a few things that need to be tuned but that's any new game on release.

Hey there. Even with match room size, you're still going to have a hard time finding a team of 2 with a human goalie to find a match. During early release especially. There just aren't many clubs with that same makeup. They also need to have a reasonable ping. So, it's possible there are other 2 player teams with a human goalie, but the ping is too high. You could also try 3v3 instead. That might get you better matchmaking results.

As far as the AI players go, hopefully they will be improved. I know the defenders in particular are pretty easy to beat.

Hey, thanks for getting back to me! I totally get the matchmaking stuff—it makes sense. But here’s the thing: a big problem I’m seeing is that a lot of the teams my club plays against have players who can just zoom past the whole team and score with the goalie totally caught off guard. It feels like these players have this special skate move that leaves the goalies and defenders totally clueless. Wouldn’t it be awesome if we could tweak the game so that character speed boosts weren’t so over-the-top? It seems like the game mode is all about who can score the most breakaways, which isn’t quite the real deal, is it? It feels more like a non-fun, rage bait version of hockey. In my opinion, the concept WOC is an excellent game mode. If implemented in a manner that ensures fairness and provides a realistic simulation of a genuine hockey game, it would undoubtedly offer an enjoyable and exceptional hockey gaming experience.

I agree and we're investigating some speed issues. It's also possible there could be changes to XFs in the future that help with this particular way to score.
