Re: "Fair" ping in the last 2-3 days...

If you were planning on contacting EA Support, they are most likely gonna request you send them "UO Trace" data - a simple google search should get the ball rolling for that; it's pretty easy to do and should hopefully pinpoint the exact cause of the problem.

Could be any number of things, really -- router might need to be reset/ christmas decorations cauaing interference/bad weather/playing outside of peak hours etc etc

    thanks for the reply...   ill do that for sure.     its just really strange since the other 3 members in my club (all from the same town, and with the same ISP) are having the same issue.   And it doesn't seem like its a widespread problem looking at some of these message boards.  And we've never had this problem in the past.  Sounds like an ISP problem but ive been on the phone with them and theyre saying everything looks fine.

    Hello, @Kaye980

    If all of you are in the same town and on the same ISP, it's very possible there's an issue in your region with your ISP. If you want to go through some troubleshooting, let me know. As previously mentioned, you can run a UO Trace and submit a screenshot of the results. Those instructions can be found here.

  • @EA_Aljo    thanks for your reply.  id love to troubleshoot and figure this out.   here are the results from my Mac (which isn't wired, unlike my PS4)  Let me know if I have to wire  my Mac for different results.

    We won't be able to use this test if you're playing on a wired connection. The results will be very different from what you actually play on. Try using alternate DNS servers to see if that helps. Those instructions are here. If you don't see a difference, try the Google DNS servers. Those are: Primary alt number 8.8.8.8 - Secondary alt number 8.8.4.4.

    Can you run the Pathping again? There's only one hop on it. It should be a list of hops.

    @Kaye980

    You've got packet loss connecting to the router. Your connection is also dropping when you hit the 7th hop. Have you tried a different ethernet cable? It would be good to rule out any issues with yours.

  • I have tried different cables and I dont know if I posted this on another post but 3 other ppl on my club are having the exact same issue...    also, ive done that path ping text about 6-7 times now and only once has it produced more than one hop....  dont know if that helps you out?    any other idea?

  • and these 3 other ppl are all on the same ISP and in the same town by the way.

    @Kaye980

    I think it would be best to run that test on a PC to get more details, but I understand that's not possible. Since everyone is experiencing the same thing and you're all on the same ISP, in the same town, it's probably an issue with your ISP. Unfortunately, we can't really test for that since you don't have a PC. You can try opening the ports for NHL. That may help. They are listed here.

  • @EA_Aljo

    ok.  thanks for you help...  ill try to get my hands on a Laptop and try the tests that way....  and will post them at a later date....I did call my ISP and they couldn't find any problems with the equipment or any packet loss...   but who knows.   It just really sucks that this happened all of a sudden....   but again.  thanks for all your help.  I really appreciate it.    ill try opening the ports in the meantime

    @Kaye980

    If you get a laptop, make sure it's wired when you run that test. While you're in your router settings, check to see if it has the latest firmware update. Also, it would be good to see if QoS (Quality of Service) is available. If so, enable it and see if that helps.

  • @EA_Aljo

    hey, me again...    so I tested my console at my parents place who have FibreOp internet (different company) and I got a 19ms ping (compared to the 70 at my place),  does that 100% mean its my ISP? or could it still be the networks somehow?

    @Kaye980

    Are they on a different ISP? It also could be related to their equipment.

  • @EA_Aljo

    Yes they are on a different ISP....

    here is the UO trace from a PC laptop.   tis may not matter anymore but take a look if you dont mind    thanks

    @Kaye980

    I'm not seeing any issues with that test. So, it's making me think this is a problem with the ISP.
