The issue is with the dash in the name. It won't return the name in the search, but in our database it will occupy the name.
Try searching the same name without the dash to see whether you can find a user occupying that name then.
Unfortunately going by a different handle is the only solution at this point.

I cant get anything to work, I need to change my name to reflex-US- for a clan, Ive tried 4reflex-US-, _reflex_-US- __reflex__-US-, xreflex-US- and everytime I try something new it still says its invalid, I've also tried 3 different emails since I needed to change that as well and it says its invalid

Hello! For example i wanted to change to name Kays and checked in the battlelog database no one taken this.can not change( how?!?!
DICE TeamA player can choose to not be found by players he doesn't know. EA usernames are also shared amongst games so it is possible that the player isn't on Battlelog.
i think it is bad for origin and ea, they must fix this.
I searched in origin with id and also didn't find anything
DICE TeamI checked - the ID is taken by another player. They most likely have their privacy settings set in such a way that they don't want to be found by unknown players.
This is currently working as intended and won't be changed. I do understand that you would like that ID but since it is taken you will need to try another one.

Hello my username is R5_F and i like to change it to R4_F but it says its already been registered. i don't think anyone has R4_F as a name other than me. thank you EA for your horrible service, why can't we use the same usernames? that wasn't a problem on Steam

I wish they could do i like steam, you have an initial username at start, and then your screen name can be the same as someone else, but if they needed to contact you specifically, they'd search by email, or first username.
I'm currently in a love-hate kinda thing with them.
Their support is *, origin is a buggy mess, and they don't accept criticism.
At the same time, I'm a die hard fan of some of their games. Those being Need For Speed, The Sims, Simcity (i cried when i played the new one. it was trash), The Sims, and Spore.
The only reason I have origin is so I can play spore. ;(

What does this mean for you as a player? Everything you say is read and reviewed and then forwarded to the correct teams. We're always trying to make things better, but I must add that we can't always action all feedback that we receive. It's however still appreciated that you and other players are taking the time to share your thoughts and suggestions.
In this situation, I will chase up to see if we can make improvements to the ID system. It's not easy update or fix though. So, if we're able to make improvements, then it wouldn't be short-term.
