This happened to me again. This time, I used some energy first thing and then filled a customer order pretty quickly which also completed the task I was working on. When I clicked "collect" for the task, it took me off the board. When I went back in to the board I tried a generator and a moment later found I was out of energy, i should have had at least 80 since I hadn't been in the game for at least 10 hours. I used at most 20 and suddenly had 0.
Not sure about workarounds now.
