I had the same problem yesterday and tried to play on two different computers - Right in the middle of the game you could not click on the board, very odd.
I tried it again this morning and was able to complete the challenge. Hope it works for you today as well.

Yes. I have not seen a solution offered. Nor has the problem disappeared. Same level - same freezing. Cannot get past it.
