I think I know what may be happening. I went to purchase something on my game - an orange chair and when I went to click on the check mark the chair kept disappearing and reappearing.  What I noticed are a few things..

• Move the item away from the green check mark - for some reason the checkmark can make the item disappear.
• Also, there is approved placements and not approved placements to place items.
• 🟢If the item has a green color over it, good to place
• 🔴If the item is red, not an approved spot,

But if you notice the checkmark stays up no matter what! Here's a glance

I clicked on the check mark while the item was red and nothing happened, just went back to the main island screen. 

Please try placing an item and wait for it to turn green, then you will see this appear to finalize the purchase

That’s just it.  I have chosen several items over the years and nothing appears. I choose an item but nothing happens. I do get the green checkmark but even if I click on that nothing happens.

Hello! Sorry to hear you have not been able to place anything in the resort for several years, that shouldn't be happening. Let's see if we can get this sorted out for you.

We can visit the resort store by clicking on the Supplies button.

Then the Supplies store will appear, click on whatever you would like to buy, then place it and select the green checkmark to complete the purchase.

If you click on the ? (question mark) in the top left corner, you'll discover a step-by-step Help Guide that explains how the game works. For more info on purchasing and relocating items, check out the section at the bottom under Resort
