Solitaire Home Story Stars Disappearing

I play this game a lot, I really like it, but every time I lose or disconnect from a level or there is a glitch, every single one of my accumulated stars disappear. And I really like decorating. It’s making me very angry, as I have to somehow win 4 or 5 levels in a row just to have enough to continue the story. I had 7 stars, then lost a game, and now I have 0??? This seems totally unfair.
