Give us an offline mode!
The game can be fun at times but I find myself just wanting to turn off the game, start my ps3 and just play Skate 3. I had extremely high hopes for this game. The lack of an actual story mode is a let down. It does not feel like the devs consulted with the actual skateboard culture. Was expecting a cool intro like how the earlier iterations had with all the pro skaters that were involved. It seems this franchise has lost it’s soul and is just looking to capitalize on skate culture. They ask us for feedback but don’t give us any of things we’ve asked for. I want to be able to play offline in a free skate mode setting, I could care less about squirrel diving into a dumpster. Not everyone wants to play online either.Give us an offline mode. What’s annoying is when I’m just trying to enjoy a spot and some other player deliberately puts an obstacle right in my runway causing me to fall. Thankfully I learned I could disable their QDO’s because one night a group of players kept doing that, putting rails at the bottom of a roll-in ramp, random flatbar, sideways, literal skate stoppers! I miss when you could unlock products through challenges….now everything in the shop are just micro-transactions for cosmetics, so many stickers lmao. Vee is annoying and seems campy. I’ve turned her off as well as the music. The music is trash and feels very intrusive at times. The first time I came across a speaker to interact with, thought I’d stumbled on a secret challenge, nope, just some music I don’t want to listen to. The music speakers sprinkled through the cities are everywhere and makes it feel like I’m being bombarded by ads for music, I don’t want that. I turned the music off, wish I could disable all the speakers too that ask you to interact with the music, it’s unnecessary and doesn’t contribute at all to the actual gameplay or at least I don’t think it does. Shing and Slappy are really corny but I get they are trying to appeal to maybe a younger demographic that doesn’t know anything about actual skateboarding but what about the die hard fans that grew up with the series. This game feels like a Fortnite game geared towards the twitch and youtube streaming generation. I just don’t care for free to play online multiplayer games that micro transact you into bankruptcy. This game is actually the first and only game I’ve played online on my PS5 and it’s fund for now but we’ll see where the debs take it I guess. Hopefully they listen to the feedback and give us at least an offline free skate mode. Until then I’ll be playing Skate 3 on my PS3.
