I’ve got some issues

This isn’t directed at anybody in particular but just general things I don’t like about skate. I love the gameplay and it feels fairly smooth. The issues I have though are entirely with the art style, and writing. The art reeks of need for speed unbound, and it doesn’t look like previous skate games, the overuse of the graffiti style art leads to it feeling contrived and like a “how do you do fellow kids,” situation. It’s too cartoony and doesn’t have enough to support that change, it just feels too corporate. The writing feels like millennial writing (real ones know what I mean) and I miss the days of being cracked on by coach Frank, skating is supposed to be a counter culture and skate 3 felt like it. Being in a place where there’s no civilians to mess with or pester is so lame. What made skate, and especially skate 3 fun, was running around doing tricks and if you were bored get a red arrow over some dude and run away screaming. Skate. feels so lifeless in this regard, and all of the tutorials make me furious, and Vee feels like she’s condescending to you constantly. The gameplay is absolutely amazing and yet is drowned in the game equivalent of A1 sauce. This game is like an eggs Benedict with the best base of an English muffin toasted in butter with the perfect poached egg and crispy ham, but then they take powdered, mass produced hollandaise sauce powder and pump it raw on there instead of using the sauce that’s always worked. There is so much good in the game but the small things just make it feel weird and not what I would want out of a game I’ve been waiting for years to play. I just loved the photo real look in skate 3 and I miss the good ol’ days man, I grew up playing long these games and it feels awful to have to be writing this, but what do y’all think?
