improving flow
the amount of times the game stops to show you stuff you've unlocked is extremely annoying and disruptive. i think the only time you should ever stop the game is for a cutscene before a challenge that you opt into. the rip score upgrades/rep upgrades should be seen at shops instead of interrupting the whole point of the game: skating. especially since you level up a lot early on, it feels like the game forces you to stop skating just to get a few cosmetics that no one will ever care about using. you already need to go back to skate shops to level up, just have a floating update that informs players of rewards next time you go to the shop. or if you want those items to be in the player's inventory right away, take a page from basically every modern RPG's book and have small images on the side of the screen detailing what was unlocked. if you want to view it larger, have it be something you can hold a button to view. making these interruptions opt-in instead of forced will go a long way toward improving this game's flow.
another note is some level of tutorial skipping for seasoned players. if i've already had to answer if i've played skate before, why am i forced to do a basic ollie tutorial? if i've landed held flips or advanced grinds, why do i need to go out of my way to be taught them? for those of us who played the original games back in the day, these hand holding challenges do more to prevent us from playing the game than help us get back into the swing of things.
