when you have a few friends to go into party chat with, doing challenges as a group is a breeze and it makes the game far more entertaining but even then its practically impossible to find a group to skate with consistently in game because of all this other bs.

Yeah, I don’t think it’s working; they’d make better money focusing on the things people want and have asked for, but they aren’t doing that.
They must have had the strategy and the cosmetics in the pipeline for a long time ahead of launch and are now finding out that - predictably - everyone hates it. But then, EA has consistently steered this game in the direction of a new audience ahead of the existing fanbase, so it’s not really a surprise that they have ended up alienating everyone in the process…

Agreed, though I would imagine that would push them to roll out realistic clothing that people are willing to spend real money on. This crop top and skirts stuff aint doing it for me and I don't think I'm in the minority.

When the clothes and board aren't changing it's easy to feel like I'm in a rut skating the same spots, doing the same challenges etc
I think this is a deliberate design choice to keep people spending on cosmetics: create a game where the variety comes instead from your engagement with visual changes, because the gameplay loop is so shallow and repetitive. Instead of experiencing variety through skating, you’re buying it through MTX.

They have black jeans in one of the loot boxes. I have them. I stopped opening loot boxes once I got them because everything else in those boxes are too silly and tacky

I find myself playing the game less because of this. When the clothes and board aren't changing it's easy to feel like I'm in a rut skating the same spots, doing the same challenges etc.
I'd say nowadays I log on once every 3-4 days and spend 20-30 minutes tops before getting bored and going to a different game.

It is not just you: the saccharine colours and cutesy art has absolutely infuriated players since the playtest. I’m not outright against those items being in the game, but they arrived on day one ahead of almost all other forms of clothing. That alone is instructive of their chosen direction, and sets a distinctly pre-teen tone for the wider experience.

it's amazing isn't it? we have tons of crop tops and heart pajamas and spandex biker shorts but very little clothes for skating. and im not one of those people that want name brand skate clothes, i buy my skate clothes and shoes from the thrift store so i don't need to worry about destroying them. when have you ever seen a chic at the skate park wearing any of the crap they have in the game?
