Skate. Fix list
Skate Fix List (Community Draft — From Fans Who Actually Played the Originals)
I’ve put this list together based on what a lot of seasoned veterans of Skate (and skating itself) have been saying. The goal isn’t just to shape the game around our preferences, but to also make it better for new skaters, younger players, and fresh adopters of the franchise.
This isn’t a finished product — it’s a living list. If you’re a player, dev, or industry pro and have something to add, drop it in the comments. I’ll edit and update this post as we go.
---
1. Physics & Core Mechanics
- Remove the glass ceilings on pop height, spin, and momentum.
- Kill the built-in assists (auto-level flips, grind stickiness, balance lock).
- Restore risk/reward physics — let slams, bails, and chaos happen. Nuance builds depth, depth = retention.
- Fix clunky character movement. Right now, skaters feel like refrigerators — heavy, obtuse, and slow.
- Movement should be sharp, agile, and responsive, especially with spins and ground maneuvering.
- Speed physics must be realistic. Push intensity, angle, and incline should determine acceleration — like the old Skate games, even Skate 1 had it.
- Grabable cars
- No-comply's and more variations should be added but not based off positioning of the flick stick but the actual flick of the flick stick.
- When you tap the push button from standing it should give a soft push not a hard push by default.
- Hold the a or x button for strong pushes from standing.
- Close quarters technical manuvers and tricks and rappid succession needs work, quick tricks are a bit slugish.
2. Trick Set
- Launch with more tricks than Skate 3 had, not fewer.
- Bring back advanced tricks: Late flips, Finger flips, Caspers, Darkslides, Handplants, Pressure flips.
- Expand footplant/grab variations — depth over cosmetics.
- Add wallrides
3. Culture & Tone
- Get rid of the pastel cartoon arcade feel — return to gritty realism that reflects skateboarding culture.
- This isn’t a family-friendly franchise — stop sanitizing it.
- Bring back Hall of Meat.
- Include real skits, humor, cutscenes, and gritty flavor.
- Authentic music only: punk, hip hop, hardcore, metal. Not corporate “activist anthem” filler.
4. Realism & Authenticity
- Incorporate real brands and pro skaters from day one.
- Build a career/story mode grounded in skate life, not mobile-style missions.
- Bring back customized board graphics so players can express themselves.
5. Foundation
- Rebuild the foundation around console/PC first. Forget mobile as the core.
- If you want mobile, port the full console/PC experience over — don’t compromise the main game.
6. Monetization
- Scrap loot boxes and RNG.
- Sell real skate gear, boards, clothes, and brands — we’ll buy it.
- Get real skate brands involved in microtransactions. Let them sell actual decks, graphics, and apparel in-game.
- Allow brands to test potential graphics/products in Skate before real-life release — make Skate a culture launchpad, not just a storefront.
- Fund it like a flagship franchise, not a side project.
7. Content & Community
- Launch with deeper spots, competitions, and challenges.
- Add a sandbox/park editor so players can build and share parks.
- Build community tools after nailing the core gameplay.
- Don’t use “live service” as an excuse for shipping half a product.
- community owns the spots and hall of meat top scores.
8. Camera setting
- let us configure the camera settings, the camera is too low and too close

✅ What to Keep (They Got This Right)
- Parkour system → keep it, but make it more fluid.
- Diving mechanic → great addition, keep it.
- Grind maneuvering → shifting between grinds with the stick is awesome. Refine it.
- Climbing/transitions → good idea, just needs polish.
- The map layout → keep most of it, but rework flow so it’s less dead space and has more technical lines. Real skating is a balance of big tricks and tech tricks.
- I personally love the rolling around, maybe add a subsystem that explores parkour and gymnastics on a technical level. That would be huge.
