CPU Temperatures

Back when the beta came out, on my pc (Mini-Itx build with stock fans and stock CPU cooler) i remember the game running around at high 60 to mid 70 C's (CPU) when playing on Hoth.

My questions are:

- Does anyone know if CPU temperatures will be lower in the final game version?

- Do these sort of temperatures sound normal given the particular context?

I expect the game to run cooler now that the room temperature is considerably lower as well, right now i'd expect mid to high 60's but i guess we'll see.

    Probably not.

Since you didn't post your CPU model, that's hard to say.

  • Hello,

    I have the same issue.

From the moment of starting the game the CPU temperature increasing constantly.

After 10-15 minutes of gameplay it becomes 68-69 degrees. Unacceptable.

Meanwhile GPU temperature is around 59 degrees. Never higher.

I play at max settings 1920x1080

    My specs:

    AMD Phenom 2 X6 1100T 3.84Ghz, 8GB, r9 290 4GB

My CPU red zone is 65 degrees.

Yes, my Friend is overclocked a bit, but I haven't met a game which behave like this with CPU temperature.

I can tell 10-20 Heavy games, and I have 59-60 degrees CPU in all of them.

Even if I lower the settings to High or Low the CPU temperature rises maybe a bit slover but nevertheless.

Is there anything I can do? or is there a hope for a patch?

    P.S.

Have a Very Very Very Very Very Nice Day!

Clean out the heat sinks and check all fans and vents carefully.  Overheating is a hardware problem, not a software problem at all.

I have the same problem. And I already clean all.

It doesn't happen in other game.

The settings are the lowest in this screen cap

  • Hello,

In most cases overheeting is indeed hardware problem.

I cleaned my computer in September. Yet I opened and vacuum cleaned it again just now out of principle. It is quite clean.

    Didn't help.

By the way my case is AeroCool Strike-X, and vent is Thermaltake V-1 and it is really cold.

Just to mention all the details I have to say that I changed CPU grease in Spring.

All other games work properly at maximum 60 degrees CPU after many hours of gameplay. Most of time 57-58 degrees.

Just in case - Witcher 3, GTA 5, Battlefield 4, Planetside 2, Arma 3, Unity, all possible Crisises, and many many other work well.

So, it seems this time it is Software problem because it happens only with Battlefront.

Just be informed about such issue...maybe someday fix will come. Until then I can't play.

    Best Wishes,

  • CPU temps are dependent on your hardware for the most part. But, intensive graphical games like SWBF will contribute to excessive hot air in your box from your graphics hardware. It's important to keep a constant airflow (doesn't need to be a lot) across the motherboard so once the heat leaves the circutry, it's on its way out of the box. Liquid Cooled devices for CPUs are fairly inexpensive these days and run a lot quieter for the amount of heat they pull off the processor. (Be sure your box can fit a CPU cooler cause it requires a fan(s) mounted to an opening on your box.)  Anyways, 60-70 Celsius on a CPU is ok in my opinion. (without proper airflow in the box, it will over-heat the system as hot air can not cool like room temp. air will)  60-70 C is where I run my AMD Quad-core A10. It's like running a car engine; once it warms up, she hums just great. gl

  • @Varanebauer

I doubt the game will change how it ran from the Beta.  You will see the same temperatures.  As for your Temps, these are fine.  60-70 C is decent especially considering you have a stock cooler in a Mini-ITX build, which is a very small case.  If you are able to fit a smaller aftermarket CPU cooler in your case, I would advise this and it will help your temperatures.  Other than that, if you cannot fit any aftermarket coolers, then I would advise removing the heatsink and re-applying new thermal paste, as the old stuff may be getting dried out.

    @Vincente_Amigo

I see that you are running an AMD system.  AMD's are known to run much hotter than Intel as they use alot more power, and that power is converted into more heat.  How is 68-69 C not acceptable?  This is a safe temp to be at and won't cause any problems.  You also stated that you are overclocking your CPU, which will cause even more heat.  SWBF is a very CPU intensive game and will run at a higher CPU usage and thus a higher temp than other games.

    @ThatWeird0

I see that you are also running an AMD system.  As I stated above, AMD is known to run a bit higher temps than Intel.  Especially because this is a very CPU intensive game, you will see higher temps than other games.

It seems you used to work with Laptops where 80 degrees CPU is high but normal temperature.

Each processor series have unique idle and high temperature parameters.

Check the attached PrintScreen from AMD official site. That is why 68-69 C is unacceptable.

As I sad 65 C is in Red Zone for my Phenom 2 x6 1100T.

Sure I put out any overclock while testing the temperature ~ 2 degress diffrence in other games. Not much.

Temperature in SWBF doesn't stop rising. I am sure it won't stop on 69 C if I let it work more.

"But, intensive graphical games like SWBF will contribute to excessive hot air in your box from your graphics hardware."

GPU temp is ~59-60 C in SWBF and my Aerocool Strike-X case with multiple well-tuned vents does good airflow.

    This can't be a problem.

Anyway, I got your point. It is just CPU intensive game.

I'll think about Water Cooling and new Processor as well.  But I should also think over if I need to make changes for just only 1 game while every other games (maybe even more CPU oriented) work well.

Please give us a note with your max CPU Temperature in SWBF and your CPU model.

    Just for statistics.

    Dear All,

    I solved my problem.

It was CPU Voltage in Bios. Forgot to turn it back after overclock. Now temp is not higher 52C.

I am very Sorry. Please forgive me EA.
