Crash after a few seconds ingame

I haven't played in a while, but I tried to come back a few days ago. All I get are crashes.

After less than one minute, either on the character selection screen or in-game, the game crashes without warning or report. I repaired the install, but nothing.

Launcher log: https://pastebin.com/HBpb8N0j

Crash log: https://pastebin.com/1SwqxG8d

DxDiag: https://pastebin.com/Sh6w3xVQ

Update:
forced all Windows 11 updates and rebooted: still crashes after ~30 seconds
removed all appdata and full uninstall, then reinstalled in a different drive: still crashes

2nd update:

What is funny is that if I launch the game via the normal launcher (downloaded from swtor.com), everything works fine. But from Steam, it fails. Replacing files with the standalone launcher gives all sorts of new issues. After a clean reinstall of Steam's version, it's back at crashing after 30-60 seconds in game

Don't know what to do

The dxdiag shows (no swtor crashes) windows update failures open a command prompt as administrator and run

    sfc /scannow

see if it repairs the catalog

As to crashes, steam installs are repaired per https://help.steampowered.com/en/faqs/view/0C48-FCBD-DA71-93EB not the repair on the launcher

Initially try running the video card at default speeds by entering debug mode per the image , this will remove any overclocks on the card that may make some games unstable

Also disable the steam overlay ingame just in case it is causing the crash in the steam install

  • Ok, in steps:

    1. WRP did indeed find corrupt updates. Fixed, downloaded and rebooted: same issue

    2. Update/repair was done via Steam, not via the launcher

    3. GPU clocks: I underclock to extend life, at 95%. FPS difference is minimal, stress difference is noticeable. Regardless, enabled Debug and default mode: no change

    4. Steam Overlay disabled: no change

    Issue persists. Got more ideas?

    Thanks!

As far as i am aware , both the steam install and standalone install use the same settings found in the appdata as seen in https://answers.ea.com/t5/General-Discussion-Technical/Guide-Game-failing-to-launch-on-Clicking-Play/m-p/4809830/highlight/true#M70795

So in theory it should not be a game setting issue , so that leaves the question what is different when running the standalone and steam , the only obvious thing steam is running but why would that be a cause on its own

Can see your running nvidia driver version 551.23 and the latest is 552.12 at https://www.nvidia.com/download/driverResults.aspx/223954/en-us/

Maybe set the game in window mode via the steps in the guide, and and see if both the standalone and steam version are trying to start in window mode and if any change to crashing at start occurs

other standard things are to ensure swtor.exe etc in the steam install has its own exception in the antivirus etc

  • Updated drivers. Same issue

Please note that the game launches but crashes in the char select menu or in-game, always after like 30 seconds. It doesn't seem to be a launcher issue. Something is killing the process only when from steam. Not UAC, not WD... I have no clue; it's frustrating

  • TLDR: disable this: https://prnt.sc/G_tgqOUnW128

    FINALLY FIXED!!!

Oh God, a week troubleshooting and it was effing Discord!!

Did what you asked: disabled everything at launch, and it went fine. Loaded up the usual suspects (nVidia, Adobe, sound switchers, MSI, etc).

Everything fine. UNTIL I launch Discord, then after mere seconds, crash. I shut it down, load the game, goes fine. I load Discord, crash.

After some googling, apparently (careful, you're about to read some tinfoil stuff) Discord is ALWAYS ready to stream or it's streaming all the time.

Disabling all these settings makes the game work: https://prnt.sc/G_tgqOUnW128

Baffled, but solved. Leaving this open for whomever might encounter the same issue.

    Many thanks, Proxos666!
