Any official mind addressing this? I've already downloaded the patch 3 times. I gave up and went for the swtor pre-downloader to see how that will go, but it's quite a bit slower than the launcher at downloading...
After the second download finished and i got the error i shut down the launcher and copy-pasted the downloaded files, but recopying them into the swtor folder doesn't help with the download.
This isn't official EA support, this is a community driven (ie gamers helping gamers) technical self help forum so you won't get a Bioware employee answering questions directly here. The only problem I had was after I was playing 4.0, I stopped and next time I logged in the launcher kept hanging. Using task manager to kill bit raider solved that for me.

Fair enough... I was seeing some users tagged with EA replying on other threads and just assumed.
Anyway, I have bitraider disabled already. I went through my 4th iteration. I am now trying again after using the Fixlauncher.exe and using the old launcher since that seemed to help the OP.
Update: It didn't work. Even the old launcher gave an error, gave the option to repair and started redownloading the patch
I probably wasn't clear. I didn't mean that I could play right away after restoring the client to previous version. I let the old client patch up the game (The reference to low speed was actually to the old patcher download speed). After it patched the game, I could finally play.
As a side note, the download speed was fluctuating from ridiculous 40kb/s to 13mb/s on a 100 line. Oh and I didn't see Bitraider in Processes. Might have something to do with a fact that I have the game since launch and successive patches might have messed something out.
At first I though swtor unleashed messed things up, then I though maybe files are read only, I made sure that both directories, all three exe files and processes are in exception in (Windows) firewall and in antivirus (MS Security Essentials). Gave up and was about to made a clean reinstall (6 x 8gigs for nothing)...
I hope I'll be able to run the game tomorrow. :/
I keep sticking at 85% install on the main assets 214 installation. I've been working on it all day and still can't get it to work. I've tried everything I could think of, I've rebooted my computer at least 50 times today, tried safe mode, tried running launcher as administrator, tried re-downloading the patch and trying again. Nothing I have tried works, it still keeps sticking at 85%. Been playing this game since launch and this is the first time I have ever had this much trouble with an update. It's ridiculous.
Well it appears I have all the PC's in the house updated...
Mine corrected the endless patching by simply doing what I recommended this morning..
Revalidate my firewall exclusions, and let the mess repair itself... (using the repair tools/guides)
Took some time granted because on 'this' machine I do not have bitraider or streaming enabled... but it got there in the end using the simple formula...
"Enhance your calm, John Spartan".
DO NOT use the repair option as that will download all over again.
This sounds like a UAC problem to me, try dragging the games folder to the root of whatever hard drive it's installed to.
Failing that, check you don't have a "write-protected" client/folder!
Cuncheese:
For the record:
My UAC is completely disabled, my game is installed on a separate SSD drive in root (in "swtor" folder) and I checked ready only attributes before too, as I suspected that the reason why it couldn't update, was that the files it was trying to modify were read-only. :D
If using SWTOR unleashed , when ever patching it has to be in Retail mode or selected as remove and quit , or patching fails
Did Remove and Quit prior to patching.
Also tried Retail after 2nd failed cycle.
Fix Launcher fixed it for me. I am still a bit scared that after the game decides to update my launcher to the new version I'll be screwed again, but I am not willing to put that to a test. 🙂
