“Datacrons are a fun and exciting way to adjust the meta”

Here is what I think about datacrons. The devs over at CG can't beat the theory crafters and they want to win so how do they do that is introduce datacrons as a means to flip the script and allow CG to control the meta.

It's a means of control that they introduce and change every quarter or third or whatever it is now. Rather than spend mental energy in creating a game mode or toons or whatever, they spend their time figuring out how to exert control over all the players.

For a nerd example, the DM that gets upset when a players wants to use a level 1canter spell that distracts a beholder and rolls a 20. DM changes the house rules the next encounter so that said player can't theory craft new ways to get around all the bad guys the DM puts out there.

CG needs to accept the fact that people are smart and will push boundaries in this game to maximize things. But rather than accepting that they want to enforce some so called randomness to the game so theory crafters have to spend money rather than actually push the limits. CG doesn't want to get better they just want to get even.

And what a fun way CG has found to do that!! #NOT

Just out of curiosity, is there even a way to not timeout against a dc LV team with infinite loop Tarkin? Sounds like the ultimate defense team. Maybe even the reason for the recent server instability?

It's why they made it possible to retreat during enemies' turns now.

Maybe with toons/teams that prevents bonus tm, like JMK or a full FO squad with Hux (but that team won’t beat datacron-LV). Not sure tbh.

The only counter I can think of is Rey/Dashcron to interrupt it. So dc vs dc ? I wonder if it is designed on purpose.

This is why all the crystals moved to GAC, all good prep for this pay to win feature. Praise datacrons. Praise pay to win.

I don’t like datacrons because they’re just a temporary modifier that can circumvent the investment players have made in mods.

Just one example is the level 9 Darth Vader datacron that gives him a revive and bonus turn following the first time you defeat him. You can have the best mods in the game and there’s little you can do to prevent Darth Vader’s bonus turn.

Do I use datacrons myself? Yes I do, with the sole reason being that I would be shooting myself the foot if I didn’t. In don’t know if the folks at CG are trying to use the number of datacrons out there as an indication datacrons are successful or not, but I don’t think they actually play the game if they think datacrons are a “fun and exciting way to adjust the meta”.

I’d rather certain of the good datacron bonuses just be omicrons since they won’t ever expire
