KnightMare speaks the truth, this definitely looks like the beginning of the end.
A couple other points:
1) If you were dead set on changing everything with mods, then they needed to be phased in over time. Right now all we should have access to are mk 1 and potentially mk 2 mods with perhaps a level cap of 5 on the mod
2) There 100% needed to be a separate mod energy. It is not wise to ask people to choose between farming for shards and farming for mods. If you absolutely had to use cantina energy, because you didn't want to clutter up the game with another energy, then make a random shard a possible reward from mod battles.
3) All that really needed to be done to progress the game was open up gear 12 spots, and just forget the whole mod system. Whales would still spend money to get to gear 12. Then you could make the current raid gear more accessible for the overall community. This way we progress like an actual game...p2p players would still have an advantage but f2p players would at least see an avenue to get to gear 12 and keep playing
4) The credit crunch is real. GW will need some tinkering, but everyone is aware of that, and no point in rehashing that
5) Gear has essentially become worthless. For me, there was a big push to move a toon up a gear level. It was amazing to get a 3,000 boost in protection...now a 3,000 boost in protection is a joke, and I don't feel the same sense of accomplishment just equipping a random mod piece
Overall, I think the mod portion of the update was a complete failure. Some of the other updates, including the visuals were very well done. It's also always nice to see new toons available.
I would like to see the mod update completely rolled back. It has definitely dried up my wallet, and I will not spend any further funds on this game unless there are some serious changes.
