10+ Years Playing, 24 Hours Banned, and No Real Answer

I am posting this less as a formal appeal and more as a message of frustration from a long-time player who was suddenly banned with no real explanation and no clear path to a timely resolution.

My ally code is 142-165-566. The message I received stated: “You’ve been banned for cheating in the Coliseum.” It has now been roughly 24 hours, and I have already submitted three appeal forms through the official process.

I do want to acknowledge and appreciate the quick response I received from EA_Mako on the forum. The response made clear that the appeal form is the only way to have a ban reviewed, that the forum team cannot expedite the process or conduct a separate investigation, and that there is no specific ETA because review times depend on appeal volume and other issues being handled.

I understand that. What I don't understand is why my original post was then labeled “Marked as Solution” when the actual problem has not been solved.

I recognize that EA_Mako answered the procedural question about how bans are reviewed. But from a player's perspective, the underlying issue remains exactly the same: my account is still banned, I still have no idea what supposedly happened, and I am still waiting with no indication of when the situation will be reviewed.

I genuinely do not know how someone would cheat in Coliseum, and I have never knowingly used anything improper. I am a free-to-play player, but I have played this game consistently for more than 10 years. I contribute daily to my guild, participate in events, and have used this game for years as a way to relax and escape the stress of the real world.

Because of this ban, I have already missed roughly a full day of progress. I've fallen behind in Conquest, been unable to place defenses for my guild's Territory War after already joining, missed daily quests, and lost other time-sensitive progress. So this isn't just affecting my account; it is also affecting my guild.

I completely understand the need to detect cheating and protect fair play. But if players can be immediately and suddenly banned because a system or developer determines that something about their gameplay warrants a ban, there also needs to be a reasonably quick way to correct that decision when the ban is issued incorrectly.

A ban is not a minor inconvenience in a live-service game built around daily commitments, guild participation, and time-limited events. Every day that a legitimate player's account remains locked represents progress that cannot necessarily be recovered. The appeal process should take that into consideration.

This is the first time in more than a decade of playing SWGOH that I have been frustrated enough to seriously consider walking away from the game. I don't want that to happen. But it is incredibly discouraging to be accused of cheating, directed to a form, given no ETA, and then see the forum thread marked as “Solved” while the actual ban remains completely unresolved 24 hours later.

Again, I am not asking the forum moderators to do something they have already explained they cannot do. I appreciate the response I received and understand the limitations of the forum team.

What I am asking is that EA recognize how frustrating this process can be for legitimate players and consider whether there needs to be a faster and more transparent review path for account bans, particularly when a player has already submitted an appeal and is continuing to lose progress, rewards, and the ability to participate with their guild every day the account remains locked.

After more than a decade of playing this game, I would really like to have the opportunity to keep playing it. I just hope EA gives legitimate players a reasonable way to resolve situations like this before the frustration of the process becomes the reason they walk away.

My friend was banned back in May. His case still wasn't reviewed. He isn't a cheater. He occasionally spend money on the game.

He says he's not sure if he wants to return after all this waiting, because he's got taste of free time now.

I highly commend you for the respectable text you've written, this is diplomacy at it's best, you have my respect and I completely agree with you on every single point you've made in this post.

Please don't shoot the messenger since this is an attempt to save you the disappointment: they don't care.

With the new ownership of EA, they probably care even less now. It's evident since with any major company there is some way to contact them but with EA/CG that's not a possibility.

The best attempt at help I've had is the online support staff on the EA website but EVEN with their help, eventually they have to refer to the team associated with CG/Swgoh which is where you hit a wall every single time.

I suggest giving it a try though, try the EA web support they are nothing like the Swgoh in game support bot scripts, maybe they can do something.

  • I wouldn't get hung up on the "solved" status of your post, that's just the mods trying to show it's been answered and keep the forums tidy. I understand your frustration about everything else though. I hope they get you back in the game soon.

The forum mod marked your stuff as solved because you did the only thing you can. I'm sure that spamming multiple reports will get your case reviewed faster. You should send some more to clog up the queue.

There are many threads like this one, and they never bait out any more of a response than "here's a link to submit a ban appeal, thread closed". It sucks what happened, but you already got the only possible reaction. You're banned, so assume you will stay banned. There is no timeline on ban reversals. It might happen tomorrow or never.

I appreciate your response and suggestion to reach out on the EA website.  I have done that and hope it helps speed this up.
