Similar requirements have always been in place. You can't play DS Geo if your guild doesn't have 100m GP (so 2m on average) and as a follow up you can't attempt to unlock Wat. You can't try to unlock Malak if you have an r7 JKR but your Mission and Zaal are at g8. And now you can't unlock CAT early unless you either bloat your GP or have been around long enough to reach that threshold through natural progression.

Do you think that Conquest hard mode is 2x as hard as DS Geo (using the 2M GP average)? I don’t.

Gear for a specific faction or character seems different than overall GP, but surely one can finish Malak with just good DR, Basti and HK with the rest at garbage levels. I just think it is possible one can have 4M GP but have horrible teams and great ships, but also have 3M GP with capable squads for Conquest hard.

I think using an overall GP gate is outdated when it really comes down to strength of characters in the current Conquest setup and can potentially negatively affect GAC matchups, TW matchups etc (especially when just bloating the roster to get there quick).

That’s really it. I just don’t see the need to stop players from trying to achieve, even if it may be unlikely.

1. You're not 4 mil gp
2. CG's game design is to encourage roster growth
3. Limiting your roster growth for GAC has consequences in the rest of the game. See number 2 for why.

I mean this might actually be one of the most ridiculous complaints I've ever seen. GAC rewards are lame anyway so limiting roster growth for it just seems to be an ego stroke for some people.

It would seem the GP gate is there for the reasons you are outlining in your first paragraph.

Locking it behind GP allows them to not have new players get locked behind rosters that get one or 2 teams very fast, in some of the competitive game modes.

It also locks a slower pace for the release structure of Conquest, which also helps them both develop and same above competitive argument.

Just speculation, but sounds reasonable.

Yeah that’s really all I could figure for reasonable answers for the gate. I mean it exists with the R5 gate for CRancor (as I outlined) so it’s not new or special. It’s just there.

GAC actually encourages having high total GP (higher divisions reward better rewards for reaching higher leagues and higher GP increases the chance at winning tie breakers). Bloating the lower part of your roster doesn't hurt you in GAC like it used to. However, it may hurt your TW matchmaking.

Where is having a deep roster hurting you? Only the top so-many characters count toward GAC matching, and your guild isn’t going to be cursed to lose 50 TWs in a row because you have a 7* Tusken Raider at g8 with five white mods.

On the other hand, having a deep roster means you never need to worry about meeting the requirements for a given event, can place more deployment GP, can fill more platoons, and won’t be caught flat-footed when new characters are released with weird requirements.

I get why people start with a lean roster—they bee-line for a GL or JKL or Malak or whatever to give themselves an early edge. But then what? Just hold onto everything without working on any other teams because once every 6 months or so there might be a new character?

Your roster isn’t lean. Your roster is anorexic.

Depends on the bloat, but yes it doesn’t affect GAC near as much as it used to.

Division 1 has a low GP threshold, players won’t increase their GP for months unless they have a meta toon and its team all unlocked and geared up at the minimum relics possible

Not just division - the same lean and min-maxing strat is applied in every division until you can move to the next division

It’s not encouraging high GP since all the high rankers are low GP
