Hard 2 believe this thread is serious. How about just something to do non-stop in the game? Yes, I could keep redo-ing the Padme event and a couple other 1's. Not quite what most of the veteran community is looking for.
We want another squad arena that allows us to choose from all current squads using a drop-down filter. It would only serve the purpose of allowing us to battle whatever we want.
Unfortunately, the devs, based on their statements, seem to think that how much people replay their PvE events is indicative of how much people will engage in a sandbox mode, despite the fact that there are massive differences.
First, PvE events have a static level of difficulty. The Chewie event is as difficult now as it was 18 months ago when it launched. It's theoretically a good spot to test g10-12 BHs, but not to see how well a R7 BH team works. Plus, it only tells me how the BHs work against a cultivated set of PvE units, with predetermined stats that are not indicative of what can be seen in a PvP mode.
Second, PvE events generally have some sort of fixed unit requirement. I can use a separatist team in the Padme event, or a Sith Empire team in the Malak event, but there's nowhere in these type of replayable events where I can test out a DR+GBA team (other than marquees which still constrain you in multiple ways and-quite reasonably-aren't tuned for g13 teams).
Third, there's no way to test things out against new-and-shinys, or to test things out against unusual combinations of teams.
There have be a ton of suggestions on how a sandbox could be done. The biggest thing is you don't want it tied to progression, because that ties it to monetization, and limits replayability without cash infusions. The entire point is that people would like a way in which they can spend 3 hours theorycrafting a way to beat Rey or Slacker, without having to dump hundreds of crystals on arena refreshes. They'd like to see which of the myriad of FO teams available is the best one to stick on defense in GAC by seeing how guildmates perform against it. They'd like a mode they can just use when they want, for however long they want, without it being tied to the game's economy (and thus needing to be constrained).
