"Casual" Guilds

Does "casual" mean the guild gets 15k-18k tickets a day with half or more people getting under 600 tickets or none at all, but somehow most players manage to click "join" during TWs just to get 0 banners there too?  And guild leaders and officers that have "inactivity x days" policy but don't even notice people are logging in but not getting a single ticket or log in only on Saturdays to get a couple hundred tickets and beg for free gear? Do "casual" guilds always have at least one person that plays the shopping game and logs in to star/gear characters but who doesn't actually use energy to get tickets or join any events?

Yeah, I get it.  You "have a life."  You "play when you can."

Isn't there a certain level of commitment when joining a guild with other players or is it normal for half the player base to leech?  Where do the people that actually play fit in?  Is it just the high GP guilds that have active participants?

This is definitely not a rant of course.  It's just curiosity.  Some people participate.  A lot don't.  But why can't the people that all participate get together?

Postings in the forums here are either like 480m+ GP or the new ones that have no expectations. :(

I found a site listing guilds site a few days ago, but it seemed about the same.  The game is so old, it feels like I can't really get fully in it at this point, like trying to join retail WoW or another old MMO.  The inflation level is so high in games like that/this that you can't really catch up.

    You need a bigger guild.

TW is optional in my guild, but anyone signing up is expected to participate. We have never ever left a zone with a single empty slot before.

Weird.  There's always a lot of 0s in guilds I've been in.  I've questioned that in chat, but no one ever explains why.  Even the guilds that say TW is optional have people getting 0s with half empty zones.

If you're looking for a guild, you can always check postings or post on the recruitment server. Then you can check out guild pages on .gg and get a better sense of how they do.

30,000 tickets would be standard. If it's less, it will be at least 29,000.

AI is wrong - 50 banners are required for rewards. People signing up and scoring 0 banners are not getting rewards.

  • Very good input from ya'll.  Darjelo, how many tickets do you normally get a day in your guild?

What makes it difficult is the ingame guild finder doesn't account for activity; it just shows like 48/50 or 49/50 as most of the recommended guilds to join.  Sure I can click on every guild and look and see that half haven't logged in in weeks, but it's like a trap or trick.  And if the guilds dump all the inactives and have 25/50 they aren't listed anymore even if all of them are active.

And actually droid, AI told me everyone gets rewards for signing up and the 60 banners is incorrect.  That's why everyone joins for "free" stuff.

It's always been that weird sort of dichotomy--being in a guild, you get frustrated by all the slackers who are taking up space and holding back group rewards. At the same time, you feel like you shouldn't want a mobile game to dictate someone's life.

After I quit the first time, when I came back I decided I was going to lay down some ground rules for myself. One of those was that I wasn't going to join guilds full time. This frees me up from a burden of commitment for one thing. When I feel like I really have a gear crunch where I need some extra rewards, and I have a free week where I won't mind commiting to guild stuff for the week, then I can merc for a guild for that week. I fully hit everything I'm supposed to. Then I can go back to my little hidey hole and play the game as it suits me.

It doesn't seem so much to ask that more casual players just merc occasionally as they need guild stuff, and fully commit when they're in a guild, and then can play how they want the rest of the time without letting anyone else down. Otherwise, you are just a mooch.

The 0 TW score thing really baffles me though. You realize you won't even get rewards, right? So why did you join?

  • Finding a guild with like-minded folk that match your playstyle is a tricky business. As an officer in a 700M GP guild, even up at that level you'll have different levels of game-engagement.

We have a ticket tracker that tags people in Discord 1hr before guild refresh. There are half a dozen or so members that are frequently tagged as sitting at 0/600, several times a month. Sure, most of them go on and get 600 before the hour is out, but not always.

Conversely, there's well over 30 members of the guild who have simply never ever been tagged by that bot because they will always get their 600 long before the guild refresh every single day.

A guild will often be described as "Casual" to entice new members, perhaps people that have left (or been removed from) a guild that has participation expectations that the guild-seeker wasn't able or prepared to meet.  I think that's a risky game to play, myself, as a self-identifying "Casual" guild must anticipate that some members will not put in the same effort that others do.
