It’s pretty clear a lot of people have never played WOW or SWTOR MMOs. These companies have re-balanced toons over the years like turning on / off a water faucet. Blizzard is notorious for nerfing toons the day of release or days after players have invested in the toon. Death Knights are a prime example of a meta toon meant to take on three other toons and then they were nerfed hard. This game is no different. The devs can tune characters to anything they want. Datacrons are rented power to bring old toons relevancy. It’s a game, if you can’t adapt go read the Iliad and the Odyssey or other Greek mythology and learn to overcome unforgiving RNGesus Gods

The big difference here (I don't play either, but I'm going by games I know), is that balancing is done to balance all characters. I.e. make it so every character is worth taking, rather than something being amazingly OP, so you only play that.
SWGOH has a definite tier list. Jabba vs little pigman from ESB is not a competitive match up, in any shape or form. Jabba vs 1000 little pigmen still isn't competitive. Jabba'd eat so much pork, he'd need to go and see a heart doctor right away.
CG are using this balancing to decide how they think the tier list should be; rather than trying to make things equal. What they've done here is chosen 2 champs that won't really bring in much income (Rey & pretty white face girl). Totally ignored teams that are really causing issues, as there's money to be made there.
Because of this and the fact they seem to be utterly clueless about Kyber GAC, you have to question their ethics for making these nerfs. Is it really because of 2 characters making these teams over-powered? Or is it because they're doing too well for effectively zero income? I think it's fair to say, it's probably somewhere in the middle. Which side of middle......well that's subjective.

I agree with what you wrote, however this is nothing new for CG. They made Jedi Revan amazing for 2 months then put dark side Revan and he was meta. This game has always been chase the meta. Just last year Palps, StarKiller, Mara, Old Ben and CLS were pretty amazing now the team is broke up and Cash fueled maul is the team to own. Same with ships, Levi is Queen.
CG is always about money, so they’re up to something. There’s a new mode coming that will require the Era Toons only or some such that will generate money and the Legacy will fall out. Every toon now has a LSB or LST to get to at least R5, bypassing Carbanti, Kyrotech and other bottlenecks. And they now loosened up omega and zeta. That points to some sleazy mode coming to squeeze more money for r11 r12, or they’re going LOTR route and parting with Disney because Bob Iger, their champion, is now gone.

There is one small issue with your comparison. In WoW, you can still play non-meta classes and challenge the meta with skill, counters and a bit of luck.
In Swgoh, CG dictates the meta by knowingly unbalancing the game, and the meta is always what you need to pay for. 15 dollars per month vs 300-1000 USD for a new meta being introduced monthly or bimonthly. You can say "this is what CG does" but if you want to compare these games let's start by saying that farming Mythic+ in WoW or pushing Rated BGs or Arena is hella fun. And I can login whenever I want and use all my characters and play content that is befitting of their gear and level.
