Character idea: Redeemed Vader aka Infinities Darth Vader

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

With the reveal of Dark Side Rey coming soon to GOH, another similar character which would be great to see is Redeemed Vader aka Infinities Darth Vader or White Armored Vader.

First appearing in the Infinities Return of the Jedi comic series, with Palpatine escaping the 2nd Death Star's destruction and Luke and Leia able to redeem Vader, Vader decides to join the Rebel Alliance to help hunt down the Emperor. Vader also has his armor turned white to represent his redemption. His Black Series action figure depicts him still wielding his red lightsaber. 

Despite the Infinities series set in an alternate timeline, Legends is regarded as an alternate continuity too with Legends exclusive characters Kyle Katarn, Darth Talon, Darth Malak, Darth Malgus and Mara Jade already present in the game.

Redeemed Vader could also be the first character introduced to GOH representing the Infinities series.

    While we're at it, add a Darth Jar-Jar as well. One of his evil skills could be called coincidence or chaos clutz or hidden truth.

      As Darth Jar Jar currently only exists officially within the Lego canon, his inclusion in SWGOH is highly unlikely at this stage. If somehow he was introduced into the main canon like R0-GR or Jek-14 have been, then the chances of his inclusion would be higher. Ultimately, it’s up to CG to make that decision like they did with Rey Dark Side Vision.

    Seems neat. Though, apart from the change in armor color, how would one differentiate this Vader’s abilities from the existing Darth Vader to make Redeemed Vader more unique.

    I’m not saying they couldn’t think of something given that they said Rey (Dark Side Vision) was pretty much a blank slate herself. Though they kind of just threw in scenes of the real Rey and slapped them onto the dark side vision version to make up her abilities.

      Like DSV, Redeemed Vader would be a blank slate.

      I suppose he could be a support role rather than an attacker.

    The only "alternate continuity" should just be Legends. Besides, although sounds cool, Redeemed Vader is just a lazy palette swop .
    Instead you could add many , many cool characters to SWGOH , with just Legends. I would Kill to see Wraith Squadron added to the game , or Jerec and his followers from Dark Forces 2

      Yes, Jerec and other characters would be cool to see added. Redeemed Vader is but one of the many they could add into the game and if it's just a simple palette swap (which they already have done with Nightsister Acolyte & Initiate or Tarkin & Piett or Veers & Starck) then it would be easy to implement.

    They can add whatever characters they want, but I would prefer more from the main timeline of the movies and TV series, and less fan fiction or "imaginary" toons.

      If there’s a movie or TV character you’d want to see in the game, then make a thread about which one, or if there’s an existing thread for said character then add to that one by posting in it.

      Redeemed Vader also is neither fan fiction or imaginary, he’s official.

    Eh I have no opinion on the redeemed Vader but why are they releasing a dark Rey? Lol. We already have three versions (a GL for one!) and yet we need another Rey?

      What bothers me is that it's made up.  It's a "what if" character.  You could do that with anyone!  Let's have yet another Han, called "Dead Han," in case he didn't get Greedo.  Abilities can include "Shoots Last," "Melee of Misogyny," and "I'm Getting Too Old for This."  Then we could have pregnant Leia, after Han knocked her up.  Dead Han and Preggo Leia would have synergy of course.  Then you could have a dark side Luke, because he COULD have chosen to go to the dark side...  We could have Unicorn Palpatine.  I mean where does it end??

        Now you're just being silly,

        Actually, if you're familiar with Legends, this actually does happen. In the Dark Empire series, Luke joins Palpatine and succumbs to the dark side. Then there's also Luuke Skywalker, a dark side clone of Luke that appears in the novel The Last Command, so both are very likely possibilities for SWGOH.

      Why not? lol The great thing about SWGOH is we can have every possible character included. Besides, Dark Side Vision would only be the 4th version of Rey in the game and we already have 4 versions of Luke with demand for a Red 5 version of him.

        We don't need an infinite number of toons.  We need the releases to slow down, if anything.  And when they're still missing toons from the original movie, making Conquest-level toons out of something completely made up is certainly not needed.
