Wow.. CG you're kidding, right? "To celebrate Christmas we have special offers for the next 4 days, buy them now and be happy about these gifts we made you!"

Out of curiosity, what are you giving them for Christmas? Albeit not always, but gift giving usually goes both ways.
This is what I love about the internet. People just go on searches to argue and debate things. I mean look. Here I am. I love it. It's great. I mean there's tons of ways to do it too. One can find grammatical or spelling errors in a people's sentances (Ahhh see what I did there) or someone can take literal meanings of words and comments to an extreme and push those agendas. I mean the opportunities are endless. Add in that you can't really project an emotion from plain text and it allows people to fully infer those things like someone is mad or upset and then allow someone to take it another step and conclude that someone must live in their mother's basement and they should get out more often and do anything beside play this game because obviously that's all they do. I mean this thread hasn't gotten there yet, but don't worry. It will. Don't worry.
So sadly for me the OP's take on the note is similar to my own. I saw the "news" and got a little excited. Maybe I read too much into thinking there'd be give aways to celebrate, much like giving someone a gift, which we certainly don't charge people for and you know what there very well may be some coming for all we know. Then given the perception of CG's model of behavior (which is an opinion and differs from person to person) the "sales' to me seemed disappointing. Like they were saying "Hey let's celebrate by giving you more ways to give us more money. We're trying to entice you to spend more with these sales because we want more money and what better way to celebrate the holidays then have you spend. Won't that be FUN? Spending money on us. Boy sales are FUN. FUN FUN FUN!!"" OK so maybe a little too much, but some version of this was floating through the OPs head and clearly some others.
So while I am able to put myself in your shoes and see that for some it is a value and fun because they can buy packs they'd normally want to buy at a discounted price, if that is all that is being done it certainly doesn't allow the rest of the community to celebrate with some fun and of course the people having the most fun are at CG getting money.
In any case it was just my knee jerk reaction when I read it and I';m sure the OPs which again for me was an initial reaction and now after the fact I could truly care less and life goes on in SWGOH. Gift or no gift, sale or no sale, the grind goes on. So back I go to grind away. Happy holidays.
It is about how CG managed to make it look and sound like the packs are gifts to the people.
You're upset because you feel that CG implied the thing that many retailers explicitly state during holiday sales? Oh my.
They are not a retailer buddy. They are a video game, a mobile one at that. Come on man.
So they're not allowed to market holiday sales? I did not know that. And it seems that CG didn't either. And I guess Epic Games, Ubisoft, and GameSpot don't either since they're running similar "Holiday Specials" and sales. Someone really should straighten all of them out I guess.
I'm not saying they aren't allowed good god. Gotta love the exaggerated interpretations of what I am saying. This is a form of entertainment meaning they have a purpose other than selling things. Comparing it to full games you buy is almost as off as comparing it to a retailer. Target is not selling things to make you better at shopping at Target :D . These game companies are having holiday sales for ENTIRE games as well, in case you missed it. It is fine to have stuff on sale, they always do. The issue is dropping these packs and saying, "Happy holidays!" like its a treat to spend money on them.

The forums have never been good at analogy. This thread is just another example.
Lol touche. Maybe these guys download this game JUST to buy stuff. I know when I go to Target I'm planning on buying something. When I play a game I understand there are P2W avenues, but also expect some gifts here and there to stay interested, not just a discount on packs... Maybe I'm weird :(
But they never said we are not getting a holiday gift? They just posted an ad for upcoming sales in a festive theme, like everyone else who sells things this time of year (yes, regardless of industry, people run holiday ads).

first of all, you are getting a free game, due to people who buy these packs. It's like getting free admission to disneyland, going on the rides, then being upset that the "special offers" in the star wars land for lightsabers aren't rally gifts. (meh analogy lol but...)
But that aside, they do give us great gifts every christmas, not just "a discount on packs," which is my entire point in this unreal thread. THE PACKS AREN"T THE GIFTS.

Exaggerated interpretation of what you said? All you said was that they're not a retailer.
Also, it doesn't take much to see that SWGoH is no different from other mobile games. Clash of Clans, Candy Crush, Gardenscapes, whatever your freemium game of choice is all have packs to purchase during holiday sales.
I don't like it, but to hold CG to a higher standard than the industry as a whole is silly.
General skywalker coming back is good enough for me. I dont remember them really ever giving much out for Christmas anyway except portraits the first year they did them

I suppose it's different if someone sells you a video game than if they sell you video game products within a video game, and that it's also different if the game is mobile-wait, what??

The thread is not about any real gifts from CG. The thread is not about getting mad for not getting any gifts. The thread is not about asking for any gifts. In fact it has nothing to do with any gifts at all from the past, for now, or in future. It is about how CG managed to make it look and sound like the packs are gifts to the people. This and only this. If you don't get it now i'm unable to help you understand.
I very clearly understand that you think cg somehow made it seem like the packs were gifts.
Look man, show me a retail game that you can spend $500 on and barely make a dent in your character progression. I can buy multiple games for the price these packs are. Not saying they shouldn't exist, just saying you can't compare this to retail games
show me a retail game they give you for free that you can do everything in without spending anything at all, ever.
