This is CG getting us to pay for champions before ANYONE knows how good or bad they are. And since they're marquee, if they are rubbish, CG will just reply with "well they are only marquee characters..." that their lawyers have probably already discussed with them.
There are no gamers making decisions in CG anymore, just people worried about making enough revenue so EA will be happy.
