I have a question that's been on my mind for a while. I am about to complete my A.A. Degree and soon about to go full out on a precise set of classes to get my Bachelors. My question is what kind of major is required to be able to work for a company like this? Computer Science? Currently I'm pursuing a major in History with a few classes under my belt with a minor on Computer Science, but would like to switch them up. Is Computer Science the way to go for this? Wanted to email this to EA, but no luck finding an email to send it to.

They have marketing, customer relations, hr and finance departments, just as any other.Game design is, imho, a bit different from most software development, because a larger part of it is art. A good 3d artist is more valued in game design than a good programmer. That said, it's far easier to find a job as a programmer, because there's more work outside of game design companies.As far as the actual development part, from a software perspective, there are a lot more interesting fields than game design. Can always play games when you come home. But I appreciate the indie games ppl come up with on their own, and it's a fun hobby to have ;)

Given how broken most things are, not sure knowing how to use a computer is a must with CG, as long as you can pick up a paycheck, you're good to go.

You need to know the first 3 letters of the alphabet.
They don't have other requirements.
You also need to know that all fixes are fixed in august and Teebo bug is impossible to fix.

@OP definitely Computer Science. A minor in math is also viewed very favorably in game design as well. As others have mentioned an alternative path is 3D design, then you can work with art teams. You've asked a very broad question.

I taught CS and CE to undergrads for a while and saw a lot of crossover students. If you are going into it because you like it and have an aptitude for it you will do well. If neither are applicable and you doing it for the salary prospects, you may have a tough road ahead of you.

If you mean game design specifically, Computer Science is the most common major, but not actually required depending on your skill set. You should check out free game development tools and mess around on your own to see what you can come up with. I recommend Unity which is a free download. Many professional studios use Unity and it is even included as a recommendation in the jobs listing in these forums.
