Wouldn’t it make more sense for the new character to be Darth Vader (Anakin) than General Skywalker? Darth Vader (Anakin) would have to get the 501st tag because that’s who he led into the Jedi Temple...

How did he lost is rank?
The same way Raid Han did. He wears the Endor outfit, which means he's a general of the Alliance. But unlike Captain Han Solo (aka Snolo), he doesn't have a military rank in SWGOH. Neither do GMY, Mace, Shaak Ti, and all the other GR Jedi who were generals during the clone wars. So why must JKA have one?
He don't have to, that was my point. JKA and general Skywalker is the same. Just someone sad between ep.2 and 3 he is general then in ep 3 he is not.

Yeah, he was a general and a Jedi knight and an Anakin and a Skywalker in both Clone Wars and Ep. 3. That's enough names and titles for two characters, so I see no reason why we shouldn't get one from each medium. Especially since they're so visually different.
