You weren't 'in' Kyber under the old system, you may have 'reached' Kyber each season. If you hit Kyber under the old system, then you may well prefer it. You won a lot lot lot more. That's not exactly fair though is it? Going 10-2/11-1/12-0 each season. For every player going 12-0, there was a jaded player who couldn't win at all going 0-12. Yes, they were terrible, but there was no respite from it. Under the new system, they fell to where they can get competitive games.
I'm 11mil GP, Kyber high-ish 2. I'm the lowest GP player in the bracket around 50% of the time, always the bottom 3. I often/nearly always hit Kyber for the last year when there were GP brackets and I definitely don't prefer that.
When we went live on the ladder system I was placed in Aurodium 3. I won a lot more under the old system than I do now.

'Banished' is a euphemism for stopped trying? Remember, for the first season there was zero difference between the 2 systems.

You cannot get 'squished' out of a league. Squish is applied after the next season's leagues are calculated.

Wouldn't it be worse the higher up you go? The higher you go, the harder the match ups, right? Or do you mean the GP disparity at higher GP isn't as bad?

I've been playing over 8 and a half years. However, I was in a much lower division/league than you when the system changed (You K4/Me A3). Yet, you were probably doing better or at least as well under the old system. Even though, you were getting harder (if higher GP means harder) match ups. However, you immediately struggled and fell under the new system. Remembering, that there were zero differences for the first season, and little difference to the last week of a GP season for the next couple of Skill Rating seasons. That seems extremely weird to me.

Our situations and stories have a lot of similarities. I'll argue the opposite that the new system is fundamentally better......with the exception; even though all players in lower leagues stand a fair chance of winning most of their match ups. It really isn't fun or in the spirit of the game to be paired with a large GP account. Sure, there's a good chance the large account guy won't turn up or '1 and done'. However, that is hardly an enjoyable experience. Can you imagine that being your first ever GAC experience?! Come on CG, do the right thing and place these large accounts in their own bubble.
