Getting a meta team isn't only useful in arena. As you progress GW becomes harder, so you need a reliable team to get you through. Otherwise you end up on the GW mega thread complaining about how impossible it is. Get a few meta teams before you focus on your favorites or else you could reach a situation where a new favorite toon comes out but you don't have the power to do the raid or do the GW to get enough ally points.
