Fleet PVP is underwhelming
So I'm top 50 and my brother is top 200. Are you telling that I'm so much more awesome than him that I get *roll drums* an extra ship shard per day on average!? Underwhelming indeed. Also, could ...

i think you misunderstood. It's not an argument to keep the rewards minimal, it's an argument for a minimal difference between top200 and top50.
Also, first place rewards are the equivalent of 15 cuffs. 1400/50= 28 crystals per cuff. 28 * 15 = 420 crystals. not that bad now is it?
Whether the argument is about minimal difference or minimal rewards, my point remains valid. If you are against it, you are effectively criticizing the entire grind aspect of the game. Which is pretty much what it's all about.
what? i'd say wanting improved rewards is more of a criticism vs the grind aspect than not wanting improved rewards. more rewards = less grinding
The whole discussion was about the pay-out structure. OP said he didn't think it was worth the trouble to rank 50th if rank 200 didn't reward that much less and compared it to arena, where top50 pays double the amount of top200. Call me pessimistic, but i think it's safe to assume that if there were to be a larger difference between top50 and top200 in the fleet arena, it won't be top50 who will receive more than they currently do, but it will be top200 receiving less.
I don't mean to be rude, but it's really hard for me not to snort through my nose at your cuff comparison. Crystal prices for gear are ludicrous, so if I could trade in 15 cuffs for 420 crystals, please, where the hell do I sign up? It doesn't quite work the other way around though.
i wonder what you're going to spent those crystals on if that was really an option. Crystals might be expensive, but ingame crystals are relatively easy to come by. I buy alot of gear from shipments (incl cuffs) with my ingame earned crystals. It's a pretty good deal.
