Squad arena, fleet arena, GW, raids, ls/ds/Cantina nodes, events, mod challenges/battles, daily challenges.
Arena is a small part of the game, only 25%. With all those different modes it is forcing you to collect different characters which IMO makes it more of a collection game.
That said I will agree you are mostly working to make you arena squad better so all those other modes are supporting running arena.
I would love to see them make the AI smarter but I don't see it getting to the point of holding same spot better because players will always figure out different teams comps from what is available to use against them. I personally take the ai lack of smarts into account when I do battles. I also use probably 3-4 different teams in arena because of the diversity I face daily.
I don't think it will be to much of a problem if your collecting. IMO it is good that what is winning/holding now doesn't stay that way forever (again forcing you into that collection), I know this will not be a favored opinion. I personally like battling different teams allowing me to use different teams instead of same one over and over on both side.
