Have you just returned to the game? You're describing old GAC and suggesting current GAC as the solution.....aren't you?

GP itself is not balanced to account for GLs.
Meta teams are not considered in GAC matchmaking (from my experience and others in the community--feel free to share your experience)
Players that have a specific GP do not encounter these issues (GPs above 8 million)
A player with 500k GP or less can have a GL by purchasing packs.
