Well, the ranking system should be there to rank the players accurately. Adapting is having to play both 3v3 and 5v5. The ranking system then needs to/should rank and match make accurately.

Skill Points ranking isn't exactly accurate, it's a cross between being adept, usable power and hard work. However, it's just a name. It doesn't affect us in anyway.

A 50% winrate is still a form of consistency.

A 50% winrate is still a form of consistency.

But your real skill in the game doesn't matter or influences your rate, because the system is designed that way. It gives you the 50% wins(if you play) and no matter how good and skilled you are it also gives you 50% losses.

So to again answer your question, the wins or losses you have in GAC have nothing to do with real skill. And to get back to the point of the topic, 3v3 or 5v5 has nothing to do with being able to adapt because of skill with the 50/50 system. But it influences matchmaking and SR, because more players don't play it or do the bare minimum, which btw is the only situation where some might have a higher percentage in wins. But the downside is, that this leads to more players dropping to where they don't belong and also boring "matches" - can't actually really call it a match if the other person doesn't play. And in the next 5v5 season when those dropped opponents play again, they probably will have a lot more losses than 50% for that reason.
You might now say, well then it just balances itself out, they won more in 3v3 so they lose now more in 5v5 but as mentioned many times, that is not how it's supposed to work and doesn't make a fun experience.

I think the idea of having the option to choose at least would soften the repercussions because people might be more likely to engage if they can play the mode they prefer.
Eta and if we can't choose which game mode we play, having 2 seperate skill ratings seems a good solution, because 3v3 is different than 5v5 for many already mentioned reasons.

Very few people would be more accurate. The system doesn’t prevent you to win 100% of your rounds when you’re at the very top.
