GAC Rework Need!!!!

CG, when will GAC matchmaking be based on GP again? It’s incredibly frustrating that my opponents constantly have at least 3 million more GP than I do; I can't make any progress because I don't stand a chance... how is that fair? Please do something about this instead of just chasing the money...

  • PVP isn't a priority.  EA DJones who's making decisions at CG doesn't prioritize PVP because the game pays out the same regardless.  One player / guild wins, one loses.  If they updated GAC or TW, they'd have to update the rewards they payout and EA DJones doesn't want that because it might reduce revenue.

Yes, Devs at CG want to improve GAC, but they're not allowed to make decisions on priorities.  The priorities right now are revenue and that stupid era / coliseum system.  (It's not unethical behavior to influence players to spend money on characters before they can actually use them, it's "Surprise mechanics!")

One of the issues for you is that there's something up with the squish right now.  Which means you'll find it tougher and tougher to stay in Kyber 3.  You'll most likely be pushed down to a division where you'll find this more manageable.

If you're climbing, you should rarely have the GP advantage, that's how the system works and is fair.  The better you do, the harder it gets, but the better the rewards.

If it were a 50/50 split (GP advantage) what percentage would you win?  90...95?  Winning so much, is that fair?  Remember, for a system to allow you to win 95% of your matches, there's the other end where somebody is losing 95% of their matches.  That, is not encouraging at all.

Well you're living proof that isn't the case.  Being in K3 right now is pretty elite, with 10.5 GP, that's exceptional.  You're getting close to maximum rewards.

Aside from crystals...Crystals are the lifeblood of the game.

The end of the day you've climbed exceptionally fast, winning an exceptional amount of your matches.  If K3 is too hard, you'll slip down a little to where it isn't.  The system will find the place you should be.  GP is an extremely poor way of match making.

However, as it's already explained.  GP match making (although a poor match making quantifier) isn't the major problem.  The problem is that it would affect every other aspect of the game.  That's possibly OK in a lot of games, but a collecting game where we're forced to collect the new, shiny characters, it just doesn't work.

I think you have to make peace that you will only win 50/60% of your games, but get better rewards for being in Kyber.  If you can't do that, well...you have a problem.

Yes. That's how it works. If you're climbing the ladder and winning matches, you're likely to come across opponents who might have a bigger roster, but can't use it as well as you can use yours. It's pretty easy to figure out where the players with similar size rosters as yours are: below you in the rankings. That's why you don't see them. They're not good enough to be up where you are. Or they're above you in the rankings, and by the time you climb up to match the current Skill Rating of that player, they will also have continued to climb and you won't catch up to them until you're both in K1 or 2.

Eventually, things level out. In K1 and high K2, everyone has everything unlocked, and everyone uses datacrons. Any two 14mln GP accounts look a lot more similar than any two 9mln GP accounts.

I just don't understand this complaint. If you were losing 100% of the matchups where you're the underdog, then there would be something to talk about. What's your GAC win rate? I'm guessing it's around 50%.

  • I’m currently in Kyber 3 with 10.5 million GP; I’m F2P, but there’s simply nothing I can do about the gap in Relic levels and the +100 zeta/omicron difference. I restarted the game a year ago and climbed from Carbonite to Kyber, and—from Carbonite all the way up—I’ve rarely, if ever, had the GP advantage. Even if there has to be a difference, it should at least be a 50-50 split. In this system, only those who pay can consistently stay in the elite ranks... but if they aren't going to change that, they could at least update the rewards, because let’s face it: aside from crystals, you don't get anything of value.

you have some with 14mil but are built up that can beat down a 15mil that has more of the trash but same on what matters.

  • GAC was like that once and it was terrible. GP based matchmaking will make everyone not actually upgrade anything

It won't be, because that disincentivizes roster growth. A player could build a lean, GAC-focused roster of 4mln and be useless to their guild in TB and raids. You'd have to create a separate guild for players like that so they could all be in one place without annoying people who want to be competitve in guild events.

When GAC matchmaking was based on GP, people were making exactly that complaint: it was unfair when they faced opponents who put all their GP into GAC.

People who post here complaining about how a specific aspect of the game is unfair because it disadvantages their specific roster at a specific point in time will always find something that is "unfair" to them at a specific point in time because of what their roster looks like.

  • Hello, Colemann_Trebor!  My gaming name is GodIsOnTheMove... and I am a 3.3 million GP, Carbonite III player.  I certainly haven't been around as long as some people, but... I think I can wade into this discussion.  First of all, let me ask a question... why would CG have taken GAC off of GP based matchmaking?  (And, no... I won't accept any answers that deal with money-making schemes.)  Well, as I said, I haven't been around long... however, I can make a guess at why CG has matchmaking the way it is.  (Mind you, it is only a guess.)  I think the issues with changing GAC ultimately boil down to two things.  The first is this... that, in changing the GAC standard to GP based matchmaking, an even worse problem arrises.  (I could be wrong about what I am about to say, but we will see in the comments section.)  I am a "disadvantaged" player... I have a fairly new account, very little GP, I am in Carbonite, and I am a F2P player.  Most everyone that I face has somewhere between 2-5 times as much GP as I do... that screams "unfair," right?  Well, no... I know how my characters interact with each other and I know how to effectively use them in combat.  Skill will usually beat GP in the end... not always, but often enough for me to consistently advance little by little.  That is my first point... current matchmaking allows for players to advance in GAC.  If CG changed the system, I couldn't advance past my general GP level... so I would be stuck in Carbonite for a long time.  It is actually a better money-making scheme for GAC matchmaking to be GP based... as players will foolishly buy Lightspeed Token Bundles to progress further, faster.  (I am not saying that all who make that purchase are fools, only that it isn't always the wisest decision.)  That is point one.  The second point is that complaining will intensify a great deal.  Imagine working for litteral years to get into the Kyber Division only to be kicked back a few Divisions into Bronzium... or worse: Carbonite.  Can you imagine the frustration players would have?  Many of the best players, players in the highest Divisions, have low-ish GP.  They have made up for it with skill until... all of a sudden... they can't.  They are only allowed to be where there fellow, same-level GP players are.  I think more people would be angry then than there are now.  So, those are the two reasons I can think of.  I could be wrong... I have been before.  However, I know I don't want GAC to change since my ability to progress is in the present "unfairness" people so often post about.  Anyway, I wish you well with your present Grand Arena Championship.  God bless.

Sadly it won't, cause they want you to feel you need to whale to get caught up with the GP of other players. Now yes many content creators and players have found ways they can use GP again with limitations on lower brackets but sadly I don't see them doing this. Yes it will help players have more fun with the game. This is their money chasing strat or at least one aside from the dreaded FOMO(Fear of missing out). I hate FOMO its so annoying. Like with all their Legendary characters they make they have that long time in between, I feel they need to just add them and keep them. Whales will still whale and free and light spenders will take the 3 to 6 months of farming those characters daily.  You can look up those suggestions the content creators made on Youtube. Other then that, we will see if they do something this year or not. They said they plan on working on a ton of things. We have yet to see the Sandbox mode or Training mode with the Era Arena. They need a good crew in charge of yes still making money but making things better for the players first. Cause the more players they have the more money and more likely money will follow. There are so many units in game that they always chase the money of the newest character. I would like them to add 1 to 3 characters a year for free. Start farming them day one and work on them till how ever high you want them. Even throw us a surprise. Yet they won't. They want money money money. Its how all game companies are lately. Very rarely and very few game companies focus on players first.
