GAC squishing

Another season begins, another squish is happening.

You gotta stop this, this is the 4th time in a row that I'm losing 70 points or so.

You have no idea how frustrating it is to fight opponents with much more GP than you, win more than lose, and yet lost points and eventually drop to k3 instead of climb to k1 because of this nonsense.

You got to stop the squishing.

    1. No, there is not a fixed number of players in K2, at least not that they said. The next evidence to what I'm saying is the number of players in K1. The community tracks that, and they noticed that the number been decreased systematically each season.
    2. The example you gave doesn't apply here, since the amount of point you get / lose does not depend on the opponent, but the progress of the GAC season (track it on swgoh.gg - it begins, every season, with about 43 points/game, and as the season progresses the matches worth less)

I do agree with you on some points.

The system indeed ignores the GP, since there is the skill rating.

The system indeed designed to get everyone, eventually, to 50%. And that exactly my point. Based on that, a player with a positive win rate should theoretically climb and eventually get into K1, not matter how long it's gonna take. Positive win rate should make you climb. I have a positive win rate each season for at least a year and yet, instead of getting into K1 I'm finding myself struggling to stay at K2.

I'll try to find the statistics of the amount of players in each league to prove my point.

I noticed if you don't join, your skill-rating doesn't change. They won't get rewards during the seasons, but they'll keep their top spot forever..

Squish has been apart of this system since day one. Players are fixated on this 50% win rate. But a plateau does not mean you will have exactly 50%. To stay a float has required a few more wins than losing since the start, with different rates of roster development staying afloat is an achievement. It’s very easy to fall through lack of participation or slow roster progression (promoting acceleration through spending). To climb from certain positions has required a near perfect win record to get promoted to Kyber needed this as squish always brought you back to A3/A4. It is much easier since the rework to squish as I sit in K3 happily. But climbing to K2 or K1 are the peak of the rankings I would expect anyone to be maintain a high win rate to earn those rankings.

Well, there must be an overall 50% win rate, since on every match there is a winner and there is a loser. Hence the overall 50% (I saw before matches where both players lost due to lack of participation, but I neglect that matches).

So yeah, if the players around you will progress faster than you, you'll drop. If you progress more than them, you'll climb. That, at least was what suppose to happen, but because of the squish one must win in order to stay still, and win a lot in order to climb a little.

I would be good with the squish if it meant I got squished into some easier brackets, where I am not always punching up.  can't remember the last time I faced a roster where I was like, this will be a cake walk or an even contest.

    Totally get you mate.

I'm so used to face much stronger rosters than mine, that if my opponent has only 0.5m GP more than me, I wonder what's he doing that high...

When I face rosters the same GP a mine, I'm worried the most...

I'm at almost 2M GP. 1st round opponent has 8+M GP.  I Lost. 2nd round opponent also  has 8+M GP. I haven't lost yet, but if they play,  they're is no chance I can win.  Very frustrating.  I took 2nd last arena and my opponents were somewhat close on GP.

I think you lose SR points around 2 losses worth.-

We can also consider it that we have good rosters… that we’re competing with heavier weights than we appear we should. I’m in a similar boat, often.
