Locked content behind tedious requirements is basically the new way to get some easy cash i guess. You can only blame players who support such mechanics. ;)

This ^. It's a great strategy to put off newer players. It's makes whales and older players happy....at least for a period of time. Newer players are going to see these walls and just not even bother.

Or they're going to see that these aren't actually requirements and just do the parts they can until their collection grows to the point where they can do more?

Alternatively, they'll just collect Phoenix Squad because they're really good for new players.
