If I don't want any of the characters... or to help my guild..or G12 gear...then my arena rank can plummet without G12 and GW will become impossible, as I am sure there will be G12 teams nodes 9-11. Also it's likely that future content will requite both the new heroes and g12 toons. So my in-game progress would basically freeze. But yes, you are correct.

You can always use your friend MasterCard or Visa for the Gear, leave your guild and live without G12 gear. You will not die from it.

And honestly, GW is an irrelevant concern against a Resistance team as they just don't move. Even more so, when Poe has the TM from previous battles. (Farm Resistance for TLJ movie).

Arena: mods will still decide who ranks high. Rolo might be good, but she won't be meta breaking.

And what I meant implicitly is no one forces you to play. If you are not happy, you are free to stop.

So you think gating by having a single random character who is useless in-game makes more sense than simply making content that is more challenging? Interesting. I guess you're entitled to your opinion...as ill-conceived as it might be.
