If I don't want any of the characters... or to help my guild..or G12 gear...then my arena rank can plummet without G12 and GW will become impossible, as I am sure there will be G12 teams nodes 9-11. Also it's likely that future content will requite both the new heroes and g12 toons. So my in-game progress would basically freeze. But yes, you are correct.

Because I didn't think you were trolling. If what has been posted is correct, you need 7* HRSoldier to obtain ROLO shards. Please explain to me how that is not a gate. Especially if you will eventually need ROLO to obtain Jedi Luke sometime in the future.

Warrior posted a 5* requirement for HRSoldier. 6* for scout (easy farm for scout)

Jedi Luke is probably a year in the future. Eventine just did the math and proved you can, with normal RNG, get that minimum requirement in 86 days, if you are starting from bottom up, which no one is. So there is plenty of time

So just drop everything we're currently trying to build and focus on farming two otherwise useless toons for two two and half months? Nah, not buying into the hype this time. I use to pay every now and then but I'm strictly FTP now. If the game becomes a massive wall, I'll just move on. Simple. And saves me money and stress in the end.

I somewhat agree. Not a fan of rogue 1 7* rebels being a requirement, nor am I a fan of 7* phoenix, given that neither squads had anything to do with the battle on Hoth. That said and to be honest without a complete knowledge of how this will work, I assume most HAAT guilds will be able to put these requirements together fairly quickly.

lol I refuse to farm Rogue One rebels. I'm working on PS only for Thrawn.

Rogue One rebels actually form a fairly decent crew.

CLS aside, Jyn and Bistan - and Cassian to some extent - contributed significantly to Rancor solos.

There's also Chaze, which have been arena meta for months. That might be declining now, but Rogue One Rebels as a whole are worth farming IMHO.

Jyn is a must have on your rancor team. She is a rancor rockstar.

This forum is getting kind of ridiculous lately, though glad to see some cooler heads in here. There is nothing wrong with having specific requirements for different parts of the game. In fact, they should have done MORE of this EARLIER.

Almost any collection or RPG game I've played (and this is both) requires you to choose a path. If it was possible, it would have been even better if they had released Thrawn and Commander Luke at the same time. Then you would have had to choose to farm Phoenix or to farm your Ep. 4 toons; you would have had to choose if you wanted your OP empire toon or your OP rebel toon.

The real problem is that the devs have left it possible -- sometimes pushing the envelope; you had to either pay a bit of cash or be scoring high in the arena, but possible -- to get each Legendary toon as they came along.

Now, we finally have a choice on which path to take. Everyone is so focused on this one requirement (because that's what the thread is about), but there are more than one special mission in territory battles. There will be combat missions requiring Phoenix, Rogue One, Hoth Scout, Hoth Soldier, Captain Solo, Commander Luke, Rebels, one mission that requires light side ships only, etc.

You could choose to farm that Hoth Soldier, because you want to max that part of the game, or you could choose to farm Phoenix, which will still help your guild in territory battles, as well as put you on the path to Thrawn. Or you could have been looking for an excuse this whole time to gear up your Jyn, Bistan, and Pao because they looked fun, but didn't see a specific use or outlet for them yet, so you haven't. That's another path to be able to help your guild.

Choose your path. No need to whine about being "forced" to do anything. Gear 12 is not locked behind Hoth Rebel Soldier.

I totally agree. I was just underlining the fact that veterans have a clear advantage and that should be it. That being said, the difference between a really good arena roster and a TB roster is thins I have 40 G11 (completely maxed) and most my guild mates have the same TB power because all my other toons are at G1.

Your comparison to "gating" CLS with ANH toons is completely off-base. There is a huge difference between the two. To get CLS you needed:

1) STHan - available from Squad Store. A very useful tank (especially pre-pretaunters) Also a Rebel + Scoundrel making him useful for both Palpatine and Credit Heist.
2) Leia - available in the Squad Store. A very strong attacker - so strong in fact, that at the very beginning of the game, she was p2p only.
3) Old Ben - a Cantina node farm. A Jedi useful in obtaining Yoda. Part of the "Dodge meta" - and arguably one of the two "must haves" from that era.
4) R2D2 - one of the best utility units in the game. His presence in so many arena teams of all levels and makeups makes his usefullness clear.
5) Farmboy Luke - fairly weak - but needed for Luke flash events and an easy farm, with cantina and a hard node and free shards given. Also an automatic unlock for new players.

Now compare the usefulness and farmability of those to Hoth Rebel Solidier:

Available in a single hard node. A weak Rebel support unit who taunts - except there are 6 Rebels who taunt who are better in every respect (STHan, Baze, SRP, Chopper, K2SO and Old Ben). He also has the lowest health of the other 6 taunters...but he makes up for it by being the slowest, save for Baze...who auto-taunts. In summary - if you were to rate the 30 Rebels, HRSoldier would not come in in the top 25. He is useless - and hard to farm.

That's a world of difference. And experienced players who realize that difference are, in a sense being "punished" for either not having him, or not being bored enough to have him "by accident".

Lol... i thought i had the soilder at 6* from way back when you needed that extra rebel to unlock EP... turns out he is like 57/65... i shoulda checked on him sooner... been so tied up farming nihlus/shoretrooper/baze/krennic/ships from hard nodes... i kept forgeting about hoth rebel soilder till now (wonder why) anyway i think the soilder should be added to cantina shop AFTER TB launch... give the ones that farmed him the hard way a leg up...

I mean... $%#@ it took some dedication to farm a sub-par craptastic toon like hoth rebel soilder day after day after day especially post EP release.

After my 20th consecutive battle, I finally got one shard.

About the information about HRS: there were enough leaks to incentivize to farm him. You did a mistake, no one else, so don't blame the others! I totally refused to panick farm Phoenix for Thrawn, my arena was more difficult (I had to remod my team), but that is!

I will restate my advice by not trolling: quit this game if you are unhappy, there is no advantage of continuing playing when you feel restèrent against human beings who make their best to offer a good game. Otherwise just pay for G12 or HRS and let it go!

Once again, you have completely missed the point. My HRSolider is already at 4* and will be 5 in the next few weeks. That doesn't make using him as the gate any less silly. Your point about him being needed to unlock ROLO is exactly the reason it is silly - he isn't useful....CG just made him useful by making him the gate.

Comparing STHan to GK...I can't help you if you think that comparing someone easily farmable to a HAAT-only character is a fair comparison.

I realize CG is in the business to make money. There are ways to make it without creating artificial gating by requiring useless, hard to farm characters. My issue is based not on whether or not I have him or will have him (as stated, mine is already at 4* soon to be 5) - it's based on a lazy design choice that I think is silly. At best, it feels like the easy way out - rather than designing content that is a challenge for people that already 20+ 7* Rebels at high gear, they simply require one that no one can easily farm - and one that no intelligent player should waste the time/energy on. At worst, it's a money grab to sell packs.

Naively, I like to think that some of my feedback is taken into account. Sadly, I think most of it falls on deaf ears. Especially when others who are also "lucky" enough to have accidentally farmed the "right" hero, defend the practice.
